Serious cleanliness issue with the hotel. Our room was dirty and as they had no other family room we had no other choice then to get refund. We then booked room at another hotel at a high price as we had nowhere to stay with two children. Staff was polite but but it does not matter if they have no clean room for their guests. I must say the rooms were proper dirty

Couldn’t be more central for Ambleside and free parking too. Really good sized room which felt recently updated. Comfortable king size bed, good shower, excellent free WiFi. Friendly staff. Excellent value.
Looks a little tatty from the outside but noted scaffolding bro erected as I left so possible redecorate? Either way do not let that put you off.

It was easy to find and close to The Old Stamp House where we had a reservation.
The power went out for a short spell.
Family dinner to celebrate my husband’s 70th birthday during our weekend stay in Ambleside. The staff did a wonderful job in managing our large party of 8 adults plus 5 kids. It couldn’t have been easy for them but they never floundered once, served us with a big smile and made sure everything went smoothly. The birthday cake was brought out after dessert as pre-arranged but, to our delight, accompanied with guitar music and a happy birthday song. Thank you for that. It was a lovely gesture and made our evening all the more special and unforgettable. It’s not always easy to find an eating place where you can really relax with children in tow but we did at the White Lion last Saturday night. Special thanks to Lewis and Megan - you really were just lovely and went over and above all expectations.
Perfect location, room was great, very spacious, clean and comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful. Perfect stay for my trip to do some walks around the area, and some pub visits in the area. Cannot fault it, and will be staying again.
