This is the dirtiest hotel on planet earth. There are not enough photos to cover all of the nasty things but I will try. Upon arrival my room key did not work took 1/2 an hour to check in because they had to reprogram the door key. When door was opened I was immediately knocked over by the stench of pet urine. I needed a pet friendly room and they put me in the darkest, dingiest, dungeony basement room- i dont know why. It was night time when I got there and this place screams ghosts. It was so haunty, darkly creepy, cavernous and scary. It was worse than Pennywise or Tales from the Crypt. Upon opening the door there were no lights on, it was completely pitch dark. The front desk staff guy had to go in and turn the lights on for me. Immediately I saw all the pet stains on the carpet. There were crayon, ink and goober? marks all over the walls. The one/only back window was completely boarded up. In the bathroom there was black mold all over the tub/shower. Ceiling tiles were rotting and falling down. Shower rod holder was completely rusted out. The thread bare towels were strewn about in the bathroom, some were even unfolded touching the floor and there was a human hair on the floor. The bathroom was about 2 by 2 ft ...too small for one person to even barely turn around in. I did not see any bugs or roaches. The bed linens were stained. There was no table, only one tiny dirty chair. There was only one maybe two working wall outlets in the whole room. Thank God I brought my own pillow. There was a shopping cart in front of one of the doors in the hallway down the hall, I imagine homeless people probably live there. When I checked out the next morning I looked down another set of stairs (probably leading to crawl space) and it was completely covered in trash and garbage INSIDE THE HOTEL as if maids just dumped rooms trash can garbage down there. Outside: there were potholes all over the parking lot, weeds/grass were a foot high like it hadn't been mowed in months. You could barely see the Red Carpet sign on the front of the building because trees have not been trimmed in years. This hotel is sorely in need of total demolition. The owners should be absolutely ashamed. I was charged almost $100 and all I did was literally sleep from 3:00 a.m. (when i arrived) to 10:00 a.m.. I was too afraid to touch anything. Cooties. The front desk man was asleep when I got there & he asked me if I wanted to see the room first, because he knew what a nightmare it was. But I was so exhausted I just said yes. The Big Boy Train was in town and there was not one hotel room in the whole city of Altoona or surrounding. Take my advice and run don't walk to another hotel. I wouldnt let my pet rat stay here, all i wanted to do was get into a hot shower & disinfect myself. Don't be fooled by the pretty website photos. Those were from 40 years ago. This place will make you sick.
Smell of cigarette smoke, slamming doors from 4am onward, entire facility needs a facelift.
I liked that it was near stores and food places.
It was discovered in the first room that there were blood stains on the mattress cover and sheets. The second room we were put in we ended up finding roaches. We had to leave. We are yet to be refunded.
Price was good
Bed, abd bathroom were dirty. One door that leads to next room ,had a hole and it was cover with tape. Also that same door had a chair to make it secured
The staff was very friendly and the location was great
Carpet could have been cleaner . Needed a coffee pot . A little run down .
First of all I have never been any motel that has smoking and not smoking rooms at ages. And my room was almost next to the smoking area. I don't know about but smoked travels throughout the building therefore it doesn't matter what room you have it's going to be there. Secondly it was dots are clean. The toilet, the sink was clean, the sheets on the bed were clean and the towels are clean but the rest of the building before the floor, walls, and furniture it's not clean
The smell and the floors, furniture and walls was not cleaned. It was very unsafe. The entrance doors never was locked
The location was close to shopping & restaurants
A buffet would be nice instead of the continental breakfast.
Very bad
Not clean
Our room was very dirty, trash was left from the previous customers. There was hair all in the bathroom, toliet had not been cleaned. Moldy and very outdated. Musty odor in the room. The curtains and bedding had several stains.
Had a hard time breathing so I left around 130am because there was so much black mold around the ac unit and rat droppings I took photos and will be reporting it
