Romantic couples night, unique experience
Pros:

Very convenient location for many tourist spots in Edinburgh. Exclusive with only a few suites, secure entrance. Each suite is uniquely decorated with original artwork, tapestries, and wood floors. The bedroom of The Armory suite was quite, tucked between rooftops. The restaurant for breakfast was quite and delicious food. All the staff we encountered was polite, professional, knowledgeable and helpful. It was a bonus having our luggage brought up and down the original stone spiral staircase. It is pricy to stay here, but I think it is worth it for the space and location you get, the service you get, and the historic aspect.

doskonałe miejce na zwiedzanie miasta
Pros:

wyjątkowy hotel (klimatyczny) - doskonale wpasujący się w miejsce (centrum starego Miasta). Doskonała restauracja, bardzo dobry serwis .

Cons:

wszytsko nam się podobało . Uwaga - hotel raczej tylko dla par i w dobrej kondycji :) - pokoje w średniowiecznych domach więc schody

Magical experience
Pros:

We had a wonderful stay in the Rectory suite. There were added complimentary items such as fruit, water, truffles, crisps,Nespresso machine with pods, lots of expensive toiletries and because we booked direct a bottle of champagne. The turn down service was a lovely touch and much appreciated as there were so many cushions and blankets on the bed and as the suite is so big lots of blinds to close! A large silver drinks bowl that our water and champagne were in on arrival had been topped up with fresh ice too.
We did not book a table for dinner as I am vegetarian and there was only one option of carrots so that was disappointing. We decided to have our breakfast in the restaurant and the gentleman who served us was charming and very attentive. Again it would have been nice for a vegetarian option of a full Scottish breakfast but I had scrambled eggs which were amazing. I would echo other comments regarding the lighting, I love soft lighting but it was a little too dark to see the menu or fully appreciate the room.
The one thing I would say is there were lots of tourists that kept getting in the way of the entrance to the hotel. There is a narrow passage and a lot of tourists seemed to think it was an attraction so they kept wandering down blocking the doorway. Maybe some clear signage or gate at the front of the passage way could help.
We would definitely recommend going there and hope to visit again.
Thank you to all the staff.

Disappointing
Pros:

To dark cannot read menu. Food came steak was mediocre cold mash potato which I returned. My wife’s fillet steak had a huge lump gristle in it. Over expensive for quality you would expect

Cozy, gothic and the BEST service ever!
Pros:

The room is everything you think it’s going to be from the photos and more. The breakfast hamper delivery and set up is exquisite. Theservice is beyond anything I’ve received in other places. Every single person is so kind and accommodating. The ambience is the reason we all book this place and it did NOT disappoint! We didn’t end up eating in the restaurant because we don’t really eat a lot of meat and seafood and there were a few, but not many other options but the menu looks amazing if you do!

A wonderful experience
Pros:

Dinner in The Secret Garden and then a night in the Turret Suite for a birthday treat. It was a wonderful experience throughout, from the friendly and informative driver who picked us up at Edinburgh Airport to a magnificent continental breakfast the following morning. (I'm sure the breakfast buffet in the restaurant would have been great but we wanted to make the most of our Suite and chose to have the continental brought up to us.)

The dinner was fabulous, with plenty of choice for non-meat eaters, and the Turret Suite was amazing - packed full of atmosphere from its beautiful antique furniture and fittings, and a bathroom with both a lovely free-standing bathtub and a huge walk-in double shower.

The bustle outside didn't intrude into the very quiet Suite and there was a real buzz to be had from knowing we were so close to the Castle itself.

The staff could not be faulted: all friendly, welcoming and very efficient from start to finish.

Not cheap, but worth every penny for such a marvellous experience.

Memorable
Pros:

Gorgeous setting, perfect location, service and food wonderful, details unmatched for an castle feel. Mist memorable for mostly good memories.
One small detail overlooked when booking the Heriot suite
There is NO shower ! My 6 ft tall husband was a very good sport …but it is truly not realistic for a hotel of this caliber. This room should be in a lower price range in my opinion compared to the other rooms with this proper amenity. We never thought to look for “a shower” while booking ;) a room.

Wonderful hotel
Pros:

This is a truly fabulous hotel! If you like minimalism, white furniture and clean lines it's not for you. If you love over the top luxurious maximalism you're in for a treat.
We stayed in the Sempill suite which is just across the cobbled road from the Witchery restaurant, approached down Jolie's close, full of Edinburgh atmosphere.
There is a lovely hall with a little kitchen, a stunning dining room, huge bathroom and a gothic velvet clad bedroom.
If you book direct there is a bottle of ice cooled champagne waiting, tea, coffee, shortbread, and truffles.
The dining table is set ready for a private continental breakfast if you choose it.
Everything is beautifully thought through from lighting, a Dyson hairdryer, and ghd straighteners.
All the staff are helpful and polite, nothing is too much trouble and you never feel like you are asking too much.
We stayed for two nights and the hotels position by the castle makes it close to all the old town has to offer. If you dont care for hills and steps try somewhere different but for a step back in time it's worth the effort.
We had our first included breakfast in the Witchery restaurant, first class. Our second breakfast we had delivered to our room, beautiful continental breakfast with fruit, meats, yoghurt and breads.
The only negative I had was that there was no separate shower, fine if you are happy to climb into the roll top bath to shower but someone with limited mobility may struggle.
We hope to return.

Magical, a dream come true.
Pros:

We stayed in the Turret at The Witchery by the Castle and honestly, it felt like stepping into a dream. I’ve always wanted to stay here, so when my boyfriend surprised me for my birthday weekend, it made it even more special.
From the moment we walked in, everything felt indulgent and theatrical in the best possible way. The Turret itself is pure romance, rich fabrics, candlelight, and that incredible bath. The bath deserves its own paragraph. It was absolute heaven. The products were beautiful, the atmosphere was perfect, and I was so content sipping champagne while soaking that we actually asked to move our dinner reservation later. The team at The Witchery Restaurant couldn’t have been more accommodating. Nothing was a problem.
Dinner was an experience in itself. The food was exceptional and the service made me feel completely spoiled. They even surprised me with a gorgeous birthday dessert and candle, which was such a thoughtful touch and just added to the magic of the evening.
We parked at their sister hotel, Prestonfield House, which looked equally stunning, and made use of the complimentary taxi service over to The Witchery. It was seamless and so well organised.
This isn’t just a hotel stay, it’s an experience. Romantic, dramatic, indulgent and unforgettable. If you ever get the chance to stay here, take it. I genuinely didn’t want to leave

Phenomenal hotel and experience
Pros:

The most splendid room. Location on the Royal Mile was perfect. The food was exceptional and the staff wonderful. We had continental breakfast both mornings served in our suite, the spread and choice was phenomenal. Perfect choice of accommodation to compliment our fabulous weekend experiencing Edinburgh and the 6 nations game at Murrayfield. What a memorable weekend and atmosphere. We shall return soon without question
