everything ! the spa was amazing
nothing
I liked how attentive the staff were, the building and decor was beautiful, and the family swimming time was great. we were fortunate for parking close to the front door.
From the start, the arrival experience felt disorganised. We arrived around 15 minutes before check-in, our name was taken twice, but there was no further communication. Guests around us were offered drinks, however we weren’t, and when I tried to order at the bar around 2:55pm, I was told someone would come over to us. No one did, even after waiting a further 10 minutes, and by then it was past check-in time. I eventually went to reception to check us in and collect our room keys. During this time, another couple who already had drinks were taken straight to their room without leaving their seats.
When we entered the room, it was noticeably cold. I turned the heating up to the maximum available setting of 23°C, ensured the windows were closed, and drew the curtains, but after a couple of hours the room still hadn’t warmed up. There were clear draughty areas, particularly around the sofa, where the cold was very noticeable. We waited until after our dinner booking to see if it improved, but it didn’t, which was a concern as we had our young daughter with us.
I spoke to the night team at reception around 9:00pm, and they adjusted the system on the control panel. I can’t fault the staff, as this was done promptly. The maximum temperature was then increased to 28°C, and I set it to 26°C while putting our daughter to sleep. Unfortunately, the room still didn’t warm up significantly overnight. I didn’t contact the night team again as our daughter was asleep and I didn’t want to disturb her. I mentioned the issue the following morning, and the colleague explained what options could have been offered (heater, room change, system reset), but again my priority at the time had been not disturbing our daughter’s sleep.
Overall, the room itself was nice, especially the bathroom and the bed was comfortable, but the heating issue really let it down.
At breakfast in the Clocktower, we were seated at the same table as dinner the night before. This time there was a noticeable
Lovely place. Clean and well maintained. Very efficient and friendly staff.
That I wasn’t aware that I got £46 towards dinner when I arrived. I don’t know how I missed this as it would have made it better value if I hadn’t already eaten!
Every thing was spot on and the staff were excellent
Spa facilities are excellent but you have to pay an extortionate amount to upgrade to a roof top spa experience even when staying at the hotel.
Food and beverages are extortionate, main course in Horto is about £50, glass of wine £16. This hotel is more corporate or a wedding venue in my opinion not suitable for a couple looking for a relaxing break.
Food, staff, beds, pillows, spa all exceptional.
Paying £43 extra for the spa and found an optional resort tax on the bill for almost £20 so having to pay an extra £106 as stealth tax is a bit annoying and taints the experience. Just add a bit to the bill and make the stay less like dick Turpin runs the hotel.
staff go above and beyond, every member of staff were amazing
wait time to get into spa
Fabulous setting, staff were very welcoming and the spa is stunning
