Absolutely incredible
Pros:

The property and rooms are stunning. Best nights sleep we have had in ages. There are places to sit and have a cozy drink or play a game of cards like we did. Breakfast was lovely and good value. We didn’t have dinner at the hotel (although it looked amazing) and we ate down at the terrace which is a short taxi ride. All of the staff are so sweet and very happy to help with anything.

Wonderful stay in Karuizawa
Pros:

Beautifully designed hotel with very courteous staff. The bar had excellent drinks, although we did not try any of the food here.

Cons:

The bath tub and shower situation was a little clunky. It looked beautiful, but it was hard to use as there was only a curtain separating the shower from the bedroom. I wish it were a little more walkable. We were able to walk to Harunire Terrace, but the walk back was quite dark and uncomfortable.

Nature, architecture, people. Pure Karuizawa.
Pros:

We stayed at SSH3 but enjoyed visiting all the houses across the estate, each offering a unique experience.
I came to ShiShi-Iwa House for the architecture, but what stayed with me was the people.
The warmth, attentiveness, and genuine hospitality of the ShiShi-Iwa community made it difficult to leave. Beyond the remarkable architecture, the experience felt deeply immersive - connection between nature, design, people, and the spirit of Karuizawa.
Thank you for creating a place where architecture is not only seen, but truly lived.

clean, beautiful property with great staff, but quite expensive overall.
Pros:

very design forward, helpful staff, beautiful location. house 3 was the best

Cons:

rooms are quite small, not many facilities besides bath house and communal rooms like lounges. so while i liked the stay, the pricing was quite high for the offering and size of the rooms.
