Quirky and friendly, but be prepared for basic amenities
Pros:

Quirky style, fantastic views of the birds from the restaurant and from our bedroom, which had a full glass wall. The sound of nature and the water in the river below at night was wonderful. We had an excellent dinner. The mattress was comfortable. We were able to leave our car in their parking (although none is advertised) and we were able to leave our bags after checking out while we went for a hike.

Cons:

The bedroom needed a bit of updating to make it more comfortable- the lights were extremely dim, there was only 1 power socket (up high above the bed so difficult to use), the bed was very squeaky when we turned over, we only got 1 tepid shower and all others were cold. We didn’t have a bathroom door! Breakfast wasn’t available until 8am which is quite late for going hiking and we really wanted a coffee earlier. It is over 1k to the start of the Cerro Chirippo trail.

Kind staff, but food poisoning from meals, spider webs everywhere and stained towels.

Food poisoning from dinner. Spider webs all over room. Stained towels. Room deep down in the basement. For price there is better value elsewhere in the area.

Terrible.
Cons:

This place is repulsive. Nothing is clean. The smell in the room was atrocious; as the air freshener wore off we smelt urine in the room. There are no windows which open.

It’s dark and spooky with bugs flying around; they get in through the walls which have cracks to the outside and are attracted by the light in the room.

The room sits under a noisy bar. The door doesn’t lock properly from inside.

On arrival we were greeted by a surly woman who couldn’t crack a smile.

Frankly, it’s a dive, avoid it if you can.

Pros:

Quiet, interesting rock architecture, not too far from Chirripo trailhead, can drink the water, comfortable bed

Cons:

You need to be careful not to trip on the cobblestone floors. No complementary coffee, wifi better upstairs but ok usually in room downstairs.. I didn't see other hikers for chirripo there.

We loved it
Pros:

Amazing structure, all made of wood, makes you feel like you are sleeping in the nature while still having all the comforts of an hotel. Interesting and nice choice of the furniture, perfectly fitting the environment. You can see the birds feom the room in the morning. There is also a nice private access to the river. Good location if you’re planning to hike Cherro Chirripo leaving in the early morning. Nice options for having dinner at their restaurant.

Cons:

Despite our room being very nice overall, it was a little bit hard to fall asleep given the noises coming from the restaurant (the fact that the structure is all made of wood amplifies the noise of people walking on the flooor). A little bit more expensive than other choices we found in the area.

Positively gorgeous town with nice people and beautiful butterfly dome that cannot be missed!!

Breakfast was really good and location is gorgeous!

It was a bit loud early in the morning, mostly the dogs barking.

Quiet with incredible views from our particular room as well as the restaurant! No TV! River access below and our hike in the cloud forest reserve close by was gorgeous

Pros:

Great location for enjoying the surrounding mountains. Was a very cool building and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The restaurant upstairs was great also.

Cons:

Only downside is no air-conditioning, but we knew that going into the booking.
