Fair enough
I want to acknowledge that the staff member who initially assisted us handled the situation professionally and was simply doing his job. I have no complaint regarding him.
However, the way the situation was addressed by management made me feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome. I understand that hotels in Nepal must check identification, and I respect that rule. I did present identification — my UK provisional driving license — and I understand if that may not meet your internal requirements. That part is understandable.
What was disappointing was the tone and attitude from management while dealing with the situation. As a Nepali woman speaking Nepali and trying to resolve the matter calmly, I felt that I was treated as if I did not matter simply because I did not have my Nepali citizenship with me at that moment.
What made the situation even more uncomfortable was seeing a foreign guest walk in and be received much more easily while I was being questioned in a dismissive manner. This created a strong feeling of unequal treatment.
I also want to mention that the response I received when I reached out privately did not reflect the level of understanding or professionalism I expected from a hospitality business.
Staff was kind and friendly! It was a nice room and good buffet on the weekend.
It was hard to sleep at night because of noise. Also there was a shelf in the bathroom that was not secured. It partially fell when I bumped it and the hairdryer fell off and broke. We had to pay for it. Need to secure shelf and put blow dryer on the dresser right outside bathroom so doesn’t take up small shelf in bathroom.
Po raz trzeci jestem w Nepalu i zawsze wybieram ten hotel. Nigdy się nie zawiodłem. Mój ulubiony w Kathmandu.
