Friendly atmosphere, great facilities. Short bike ride to town and walk to beach!

Loved this place! Owners are so friendly, made us feel at home right away. Great staff, great food, nice pool and facilities. Comfy bed, lovely room. Away from all the noise, it’s a proper hidden gem.

Très compliqué pour moi d’évaluer notre séjour de deux nuits au Stay Golden. Cet hôtel m’avait été recommandé pour rester à Arugam bay qui est très animée en étant au calme et à l’écart de l’agitation. Malheureusement nous avons eu beaucoup de mal à trouver le calme car nous y étions en août donc au pic d’intensité pour cette partie du Sri Lanka et il y avait beaucoup d’enfants, de musique et de bruit continu qui ne laissait pas beaucoup de répit pour se reposer. Cet établissement m’avait été recommandé par deux amies enseignantes de yoga comme moi, et je m’attendais à un lieu propice au calme. D’autant que pour le Sri Lanka c’est un hôtel très cher, près de 300$ par nuit sur booking sans petit déjeuner à cette période de haute saison. Je viens régulièrement au Sri Lanka et j’ai eu l’occasion de rester dans des lieux très simples et des hôtels de luxe. À mon sens le stay golden est totalement sur évalué en termes de prix au regard de la prestation.
À noter que la nourriture est excellente et le staff adorable (comme souvent au Sri Lanka vous êtes très bien accueillis). Et j’ai écrit pour le sujet du bruit au propriétaire, le staff adorable a ensuite fait de son mieux pour veiller à ce que le lieu soit plus calme.
Notre deuxième jour et nuit a donc été plus sereine et reposante.
Ce séjour dans cet établissement était le cadeau pour l’anniversaire de mon fils qui s’attendait à vivre une expérience haut de gamme et nous avons quand même été vraiment déçus.
Nous remercions cependant l’équipe de nous avoir écouté et d’avoir tout fait pour améliorer les choses pendant notre séjour

Het zwembad, lieve personeel, heerlijk ontbijt en lunch. Fijne kamer en bedden. Surfles en safari kun je allemaal boeken via hotel.

I spend hours researching where to stay in Arugam Bay before coming - reading all reviews, checking pics etc etc. So let me save you the time!

My family stayed for 3 nights and returned for another night a few days later. Can’t recommend this place more;
- a short tuk tuk ride for small price to down means it js always quiet and perfect for families to chill in the evening away from parties (unlike place in town which was SO loud all night with music, fireworks nearby etc.
- pool is epic and kids played for hrs there
- food was great (chicken was really good quality also) and i recommend the guacamole with papadams for a yummy snack!
- staff and owners were so lovely and friendly, arranged transport, gave recommendations and welcomed us back the second time
- rooms had all the toiletries you need and were clean and cool with A/C. Kids particularly liked the family room with the double bunks the second stay so there were no fights for who got the top bunk! 🤣

Overall really think this is great! Thanks guys for having us (twice!)

Hele fijne en schone cabanas, precies groot genoeg voor ons gezin (twee volwassenen en twee kinderen). Locatie is perfect: aan het strand en net buiten het (te) drukke gedeelte van Arugam Bay (met een Tuktuk ben je overal binnen 5-10 minuten). Kleinschalig en daardoor persoonlijk opgezet, wat wij erg fijn vinden. In het gemeenschappelijke (horeca) gedeelte hangt een hele fijne en ontspannen sfeer. De menukaart is uitstekend, we hebben daardoor meerdere keren gegeten en geluncht bij het hotel zelf. En last but not least: heel mooi en vooral groot zwembad! Onze kinderen vonden dit fantastisch.

Rustig, maar toch dichtbij het centrum. Ruime keuze op menukaart, lekker eten en sapjes. Wij vonden het zwembad een meerwaarde om af te koelen. Er is gedacht aan details, zoals een strandtas met handdoeken, een extra vergrootspiegel in de badkamer, een kom water aan de ingang van de kamer om het zand van je voeten af te wassen en stopcontacten met Europese stekker. Wij hebben de safari in Kumana gedaan, boottocht in mangrove (vonden we minder interessant) en surfen via accomodatie.

Stay Golden was excellent!! The rooms are spacious and clean and the bed was very comfortable. We were in a bungalow which felt very private, and we enjoyed the use of our own hammock and swing. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant had an extensive menu and everything was yum. An easy walk into town, or the staff could organise a TukTuk and the property is right on the beach (although not a swimming beach). A laundry service was available for a small fee. Pool and beach towels were provided and changed daily. We loved our stay here and would definitely choose Stay Golden again.

The POOL the fact that it was away from the crowd and noise and amazing atmosphere where you get to meet other guests and the owner.

This is a beautiful place to stay in a quiet part of town.
Everything you need is here and the staff are very accommodating. By far the cleanest place I’d stayed and best facilities in Sri Lanka.
Not far to get to the main part of town and they have bikes, surfboards and onsite yoga classes.
