Good location with a decent pool to cool down in.
Pros:

Location of the hotel was good, easy to get to Main Street and beach but away from the main noise. It was nice to have a pool to jump in to after being at the beach.

Cons:

The room wasn’t particularly clean when we arrived but they were happy to give it another dust when we asked. We wanted to have lunch there one day after a surf lesson but they said they had too many orders already.

Pleasant stay in central Arugam bay location
Pros:

We enjoyed staying at such a central base in Arugam bay, with the main strip of shops, restaurants and beach a 5 minute walk away. The AC and WiFi in our room were great, and the hotel had a lovely clean pool.

Cons:

Our bathroom wasnt very clean, had a torn mosquito net in the window so we had lots of mosquitos. The main shower felt unsafe and made the light flicker so we used the smaller cold shower hose. Our room was on the ground floor so we had to keep our curtains shut when inside for privacy. A net curtain would have been nice so we could still have natural light whilst staying private.

Pros:

The location is nice. The breakfast is really good.

Cons:

The pool was too dirty to use. The staff put loud music during our staying at the hotel, no matter the time.
It seem like we were the only guests at the hotel at the time - maybe when it’s full things are a little different:

Nice accomodation, with comfy rooms
Pros:

Comfy room, big bed, air condition was working fine.

Cons:

It didn't cause me any problems, but you have to ask for towel changing. Also no air dryer in the room. Ok breakfast, but not to many options. And hotel is looking better on the pictures, but all in all it was ok.

We wouldn’t choose to stay here again
Pros:

The location was ok as it’s set back from the Main Street so more quiet. But it’s right next to a very dirty horrible smelly pond which wasn’t so nice.
Good air con and WiFi

Cons:

Sadly we had an unpleasant stay here. Of the 7 places we stayed on our Sri Lankan adventure it was byfar the worst. The staff were not welcoming and actually unfriendly, they sat around doing Shisha and playing quite loud music in the early evenings around the pool.
The swimming pool and pool area were dirty with litter. The room was extremely basic, with only one small pillow and one sheet to cover you. The bathroom was grubby. Sink blocked with hair!
The breakfast was underwhelming, lack of variety and not very tasty.
We wouldn’t choose to stay here again unfortunately. It could be so much better with a bit of effort and care.

Disappointing and expensive but friendly staff
Pros:

The beds were very comfortable and the staff were friendly, breakfast was nice.

Cons:

The bathroom was filthy, when we asked for it to be cleaned again they didn’t bring any cleaning equipment and it didn’t seem any cleaner when they left. We stayed for 4 nights and didn’t receive any house keeping. The pool didn’t seem very clean and the pool area was very unkempt.

Nice pool and staff :)
Pros:

Avocado toast breakfast and coffee are great! Staff is super helpful and friendly. The pool was nice to have. AC and hot water were great!! Location was great - in the center of town but off the main road so it was quiet.

Cons:

Could be a bit more maintained in terms of facilities (light not working in front of sink, etc) plus lots of bugs in our room (comes with the territory though).

Pros:

I had an excellent last-minute stay at Crocotopond. Despite the impromptu booking, the staff provided outstanding customer service from the moment we arrived. Check-in was swift, and our room was ready and immaculate. The room was comfortable and The staff's friendly and helpful attitude made our stay even more enjoyable, from offering local recommendations and helping out. I recommend Crocotopond for its exceptional service and cozy accommodations.
