Great place to stay with history and comfort in abundance
Pros:

Fabulous view over the Tweed to the south. Historic building. Very quiet. Lovely spacious suite with decor and furniture in keeping with the building and yet extremely comfortable, superb comfy bed- thank you for the upgrade. Everything provided and also placed exactly where you need it - toiletries, hairdryer, towels, plugs, kettle etc. Kind, informative staff. Great food at dinner and breakfast.

Lovely building with great staff, and a warm welcome
Pros:

Warm welcome, great breakfast, and being an early riser, pre-order was offered and was ready on time. Comfy bed and good bathroom.

At best - seriously disappointing particularly in the lacking attitude of some members of staff.
Pros:

The location, ample parking, food was good.

Cons:

There was poor staff visibility. It was very late in the evening when I discovered there was no hot water. When I reported it it first thing in the morning I was informed that they were aware of it and were awaiting a plumber! I was not offered another room but given a key to use the shower in a room close by. Very inconvenient! On check out there was a grudging apology but no offer of compensation. I would also point out that we used the hotel for a family celebration and despite this the staff showed no real interest.

An enjoyable short visit to the Scottish Borders - very peaceful!

Breakfast was very good and substantial! Really prompt service.

Hotel is a short walk from the nearest bus stop and could benefit from improved signage.
