Thoroughly enjoyable
Pros:

The breakfast was very good and our dinner was exceptional, and our niece and nephew joined us for dinner and breakfast and it was not a problem to the staff at all. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely return if we were in Galashiels again.

Übernachtung mit Charme
Pros:

Hübsches Schloßhotel, sehr schöne Stuckdecken, passende Einrichtung. Das Frühstück war qualitativ gut und es gab genügend Auswahl. Allerdings kein Buffet sondern Menü.

Cons:

Leider in dem alten Gemäuer kein Fahrstuhl. Die Koffer hochschleppen war ein kleiner Kraftakt. Die Möblierung ist schon sehr abgenutzt und in die Jahre gekommen aber noch funktionstüchtig.

Fab stay in an amazing location. Friendly staff, great room, brilliant view and filling breakfast

I contacted the hotel prior to our visit and was surprised to receive a free upgrade to the house suite. The staff were friendly, the room and the view were amazing, breakfast was fab and we had a throughly lovely time

Beautiful stately old manor house with lots of character and had been tastefully upset.

Cons:

Noisy neighbours in the hotel, people being inconsiderately loud returning to their rooms in an old dwelling that is not soundproofed.

Our favourite stay in Scotland! Beautiful heritage, excellent cuisine, lovely garden.
Pros:

From the moment we arrived, it felt like stepping into a beautiful heritage property. The historic decor, spacious rooms, incredibly comfortable beds and stunning natural surroundings were wonderful. The hotel is set in gorgeous grounds, perfect for peace, nature and exploring the area around Melrose/Selkirk.

The staff were exceptionally friendly, welcoming and professional. And the food was outstanding. The restaurant was phenomenal, with fresh produce and excellent dishes (we actually had lunch and dinner here several times because it was so delicious), while breakfast was truly one of the highlights of our trip. The value for money was exceptional for such a luxurious yet relaxed and charming experience.

Cons:

The only drawback might be the location if you are not travelling by car. It is outside the main town (30 mins walk), so getting there with luggage requires a bus (closest stop 5-10mins walk) or taxi, although it is absolutely doable. The restaurant kitchen also closes at 8 p.m., so dinner needs to be ordered before then.

Overall, we loved it and would happily return. A truly memorable Scottish stay. Thank you!

Shame it wasn’t a longer stay .
Pros:

Lovely “grand place “ , great location , very large twin room. 2 chairs (do many only have one ) . Oversized bathroom even had 2 sinks . Some nice spaces around the hotel to sit . Plenty of parking . Only stayed one night and it was an easy walk into town for dinner but we enjoyed breakfast in the morning . Amazing Florentine eggs for breakfast!!!

The hotel didn’t have anywhere comfortable to sit and read a book or socialise with other guests

There’s no lounge, the only settees were 1 in the entrance hall and 1 on the first floor landing.
