Room number 12 was very cramped. The mattress had collapsed and was very uncomfortable. Not nice!

breskfast was good...the power was out and there is no way to use a hairdryer or kettle when power is running on a generator. there is not evven a little fridge in the room.

Have been staying over few times previously, experienced the same except noise. Will not stay again.

The cleanness and superb friendliness of the staff. Bedding good quality.

Cons:

Price can be better as this is a very old-fashioned place, bathrooms are old, need upgrade, towels are worn and curtains are blanked. TV with only OpenView is very limited, tv actually didn't work. Black people were fighting and creaming for 3hours in the front entrance street from 00.30 to 4.00 in the morning. No person could sleep with such noise. For dinner to be served after taking the order 40 minutes prior to seating still took 40 minutes to be served after seating. Only 5 guests in the dinner room. Original order was also out of stock! With this dinner experience we refused breakfast as we did not have the time to wait, needed to get home.

Great experience and perfect halfway stop! The Gardens are amazing!!
Pros:

The location is perfect for a halfway stop between Durban and JHB. If you looking to experience an old Hotel from the 1800 then this is a special place to visit! Very original with the most beautiful gardens! There is a Dinkey that visits the Bar that is an experience to witness and the oxtail and curry is the Best!!! The accommodation is very dated but it is clean and tidy! A great experience!
