Very pleasant staff and surroundings.
Pros:

Potala Guest House is a great find. It’s in Thamel and close to all shops. It’s a real hotel, but you have to pay a little bit more over basic to get a good room. The restaurant is really good and food is delicious. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Cons:

Rooms on the street side are noisy.

We felt looked after. On the last day, they gave us a room for several hours after checkout for free

Friendly and helpful staff ensured that we had a pleasant stay
Pros:

The guesthouse was right in the middle of the tourist district, and within easy walking distance of everything. The staff were friendly and helpful. We were able to leave extra bags at the guesthouse while we were on a 2 1/2 week trek (free of charge).

Cons:

Our first night was extremely noisy, as it turned out that our room overlooked a very busy street. The staff were very accommodating in finding us a new room the next day, and the (modest) ncrease in price was really worth it for some good sleep.

Cons:

No lift to upper floors so be prepared to carry your bags but hotel staff are very happy to help
