We had a great stay at Ridee Villa. From the moment we arrived we received the warmest greeting from Sumith and his team, they gave us a welcome drink, cold towels and flowers. They really know how to provide great service and all the small touches like providing beach and pool towels, free sightseeing tours in their Land Rover and a warm welcome each morning at breakfast. Breakfast was excellent and we loved having eggs/omelettes made for us. Location was perfect for exploring the South Coast (beach across the road) and there are lots of restaurants nearby. Highly recommend 😁
I genuinely have nothing I didn’t like.
Although we had to cancel our booking that we did personally, the manager and his staff showed a kind understanding and invited us for a fresh juice. They walked us through the property and it looked a high level boutique hotel with a huge personal feels like home touch. I especially valued that they maxed the potential of its colonial style so tge guest could feel like a traveller a century ago.
We were sorry for we could not spend more time here.

Eine tolle Villa in einem mächenhaftem Garten und grosszügigem Pool. Das Personal ist freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Frühstücksbuffet lässt keine Wünsche offen und der Kaffee ist ein Traum. Es werden gratis Touren angeboten und man fühlt sich wohl. Für den Strand stehen gratis Strandtücher zur Verfügung. Eine offene Küche mit grossem Kühlschrank und Herd kann frei benutzt werden.
Wir haben ein Doppel -und ein Dreibettzimmer gebucht. Erhalten haben wir zwei Doppelzimmer für 5 Erwachsene. Wir sind flexibel, doch ein Entgegenkommen haben wir eigentlich schon erwartet. Die angrenzende Hauptstrasse ist relative laut.

It was on a very busy noisy main road. It was hard to sleep at times - particularly in the morning. The pool area was a bit rundown
Amazing Villa! Clean and stylish. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Location near to the beach (2 min walk). Tasty breakfast. Nice swimming pool and garden. Perfect to make morning yoga. VIP room in 2nd floor is perfect and bath tub is very big and comfortable
The host and is wonderful team will make your stay a great one. The hotel itself has a generous amount of space available for guests. You can take a short walk to the beach or relax at the hotel.
The decor of this hotel is lovely. Clearly see that the property has had a lot of money spent , furniture and artwork.
On arrival was allocated a room which I can only describe as a prison cell . Tiny and dark no outside space. The cleaning could be improved. Towels by pool area where dirty and I suggest have been used by previous guests then re rolled up for the next day.
Breakfast poor standard. General staff need training food hygiene. Made to pay full cost of our stay, halfway through our 5 day stay.
Garden area to rear unused and unkept.
Hotel tired and needs TLC. It has been once a very grand accommodation sadly not now.

And two dirty mats in my bathroom
It’s very noisy and I was kept awake till late by the other guests.
The neighbours next door washed at a tap outside my window at 6.40 am everyday

The hotel staff are invaluable they go above and beyond to make sure you have the best experience.. the security guard is also super helpful ..

Personal was really extraordinarily nice, friendly and always helpful. The pool was great. For breakfast there was always a large selection of fruit, vegetables and always a new selection of various goodies. It was just a few steps to the nearest beach and also the town. True, with the need of little dramatic crossing over a busy road. (Although the hotel is located on busy road, we havent heard single sound in our room. The room was really quiet, clean, nice smelling, airconditioned).
Don’t expect much from kitchens. There are not really for some big cooking. More warming food, occasionally making tea or coffee. But there is so many fantastic and cheap restaurants around, no need to cook.

Location via Lonely Planet book on Sri Lanka was slightly deceiving. Was made to sound that this residence was on a beach - which it isn't. Is close by but on a busy main road that needs crossing before the beach.
Little bit of 'hard sell' for us to use their transport and taxi services which we didn't want or need.
