Komfortabel, große Zimmer, gemütliche Betten, schöne Aussicht, liebes und schnelles Personal, leckeres Essen zu guten Preisen (inkl. Room Service)
Rooms and pool area were faultless with beautiful location around us (we saw an elephant one morning!). Location is a tuk tuk journey away from Arugam Bay but this was no problem. Hotel manager extremely helpful, and all staff very friendly.
The only thing that we think should be improved is the breakfast!
Very nice staff and a great pool with view on the animals.
Breakfast could be a bit better but an excellent chef.
The hotel looks like it was a very nice hotel once,
Since then they could use some TLC.
Nice crew were very willing and helpful,
Nice pool,
Incredible view.
Many many bugs and mosquitos.
We were there for two nights and had approximately 5/6 power outages.
Wifi worked like it is the one on vacation,
Mostly no wifi.
The room isn't insulated properly meaning two things:
1. What happens outside sounds like its inside the howling winds were super loud, we woke up each day from the pack of crows that were there.
2. Its very hot and takes the ac alot of time to kick in.
There's no ventilation in the bathroom meaning the humidity becomes a pungent unpleasant smell.
Because its far away 25/30 minutes from town and its hot you need a tuktuk whenever you leave the hotel.
On their behalf i would say they provide a tuktuk one way each day free of charge.
Still there are much better alternatives inside Arugam bay,
(We've been in several hotels in the area).
Clean friendly
Location slightly out but it made the location very relaxing and quiet
An absolute gem! Oruwa Boutique Villas is the perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and warm hospitality. From the moment we arrived, the staff greeted us with genuine smiles and went above and beyond to make our stay special. Their kindness, professionalism, and attention to detail truly made us feel at home. The rooms are beautifully designed, spotless, and surrounded by a peaceful garden that instantly puts you in a holiday mood. The pool area is serene, and the food is simply delicious—fresh, flavorful, and made with care. Every little detail, from the decor to the service, shows the love and dedication put into this place. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing, memorable stay. We can’t wait to return!

It’s beautifully situated at the shore of the lagoon with great views and opportunities to watch a wide variety of birds and wild life such as water buffalos and elephants. It also offers a nice pool from where you can watch all. Also, it’s a short ride to Arugambay and seek the business while it’s at Oruwa quiet and spacious. We initially booked in Arugambay and fled as well as the ridiculous pricing in the season downtown which skews price/quality/value totally. In Oruwa you get a clean, spacious room with a large bathroom, high ceilings, sliding doors and large glass wall that brings in lots of light (not the sun).
It would be nice if some more drinks or a drink menu would be available or actively promoted. It’s nice to have a drink on the terrace or the open air restaurant next to the pool.

Nice rooms and a great location next to the lagoon. The staff was nice and organized a birthday surprise for my partner.
The food was not as good as expected
Silent, distant from the noisy Main Street
Mosquitoes and other friends are all over at night.
Bed linings, sheets and towels need a bit of renovation.
The rooms are sweet and also the property is nice. The stuff is also really helpful and trying to give you the best time.
But when you look closer you can see a lot of animals in the room. Thad because the doors and windows aren’t closing fully. In addition, we had to power breakdowns at night and the AC did not work perfectly the room was really hot and could not be cold down
If you’re looking for a calm, quiet place outside of the hustle and bustle of Arugam Bay, then this will be great for you. It’s really tranquil and in a beautiful setting.
As others have said - there will be bugs, geckos etc. It’s nature.
You can tell they really take feedback to heart because previous comments mentioned disinterested staff - however I found everyone to be extremely friendly and putting in a lot of effort to make my stay great. Even the chef comes and checks on every table at breakfast. There was also always someone around making sure the pool was clean.
The restaurant food is fine but it doesn’t compare to the foodie scene of Arugam Bay so if you want to try all the hip places in town you’ll be doing a lot of back and forth travelling. Easily manageable with a scooter or Tuktuk. I didn’t love making the trip back and forth by myself in the dark though - if you’re a couple or a group then no problem I think.
Unfortunately no WiFi in the pool / restaurant area and generally weak WiFi in the room.
The location an room was beautiful and staff was very friendly. Bar and restaurant were close to the pool with an extraordinary view over the lagoune with lots of birds an buffalos. The organized private half day safari in the Kumana NP was well organized and a pleasure. - In our opinion a half day ist the best option, starting earley in the morning.
The bar and restaurant were most of the time not occupied - Just for breakfast and dinner-time, so you had to catch someone when just available.
Unfortunatelly, some renovation ist required: e.g., Garden Lights between the rooms an Ding area at the pool don't work. While a torch could be used, that does not fit to the claim of this great spot.
