Room was dark
Location was good
My room wasn’t cleaned well, the pillows smelt of sweat and there was a urine smell from the floors. The Shower had mould and the Carpets could do with a good steam clean!
Le Monsieur qui nous accueilli lors du check in super serviable,
Belle salle de bain mais pas de prise ni de sèche cheveux!!!
Encore pire PAS D'AIR CO!!!!
Très grave en 2026, surtout sous cette canicule...
Location / staff / accessable room / clean areas / food
Nothing
Location was excellent for access to both Birmingham city centre and Dudley Zoo. We did not have breakfast, but it looked delicious!
Air conditioning would have been very much appreciated. We were on the third floor and in the middle of a heatwave. Although a fan was provided, it didn't make a huge amount of difference...
The main receptionist was very friendly and accommodating. We arrived after final check-in time, but she made us feel welcome and that was never an issue. The room was large, clean and had all the basic essentials. As always with Toby Carvery, the food was a treat - especially the Yorkshire Puddings for breakfast!
Our room was down a corridor and at the bottom of the stairs, near the Fire Exit. There must have been some prior flooding in that area, because the hall outside the room had a very strong smell of damp. They sprayed cologne and air freshener in the Hall the following morning to mask it, but when we arrived it was overwhelming and filled the room anytime we opened the door.
Also, breakfast was from 7-11. We paid for our breakfast at about 10:50, and my fiancé sorted out our daughter’s breakfast while I sorted out mine. When she went back to get herself sorted out, the staff all gathered around the food and took portions for themselves, leaving little or nothing for her, even though this was before 11:00.
Finally, we forgot an item in the room. I reached out to the hotel to see whether cleaners had located it, but a still awaiting a response.
If not for the main receptionist, the staff would get a negative score. I’ve also included a picture showing the view from our room and the damp area outside our bedroom.
Great room lovely staff even got us a fan for the room
Nothing
Handy to major routes , easy access
Rooms are a bit dark ..
Comfy big bed
Breakfast was crap. I think food had been laying around for ages. Very few hash browns left, and they were stuck to the bottom of the dish, Fried eggs were solid and swimming in water. Bacon was overcooked, mushrooms very dissapointing.
Room and bed were very good.
The Dinner menu could have more variety
I was pleasantly surprised. First time staying in a Toby Carvery hotel and I found the room very clean, modern, and comfortable. The bathroom was really nice and modern and the shower was good. I also got the breakfast buffet which was very reasonable and very good.
It's a bit far out of the centre but local to the party I was attending.
Central homely
Old fashioned
Staff were welcoming & friendly.
Plenty of car parking spaces.
Good television & a comfortable clean bed.
Very clean toilet & sink.
Hand wash which I like to use constantly.
Lovely clean towels.
Asked three times for my car registration... first by e-mail, then a touchscreen @ reception area & finally in person with a pen & paper. Overkill - once is more than enough!
No milk for the complimentary hot drinks in room - two types of coffee & sugar, a tea option & zero milk. I asked about this and 'do you want me to get you some' was the answer. It should be in the room. I had it black.
Stains/marks on the whole carpet, chair seat, wall near bathroom & on the net curtains. Black areas on shower base inner sealant - extensive.
The extractor fan ran all the time in the bathroom - it should switch off with the light.
The key drop-box in the corridor issue - I dropped my key in & the front lock panel fell off onto the floor - wonderful.
It felt like there was zero maintenance going on & that food & drinks were the priority - it should be a complete guest experience if you sell rooms.
I went to pay my bar/food tab when leaving & was informed that my card had already been charged - charming.
If having a tab open is an issue then a guest should be informed on arrival, I would have just paid for each item if that was the easiest/more preferred way of payment.
