Very Cosey little cottage for a short stay in a lovely location

Only negative was the bed was extremely squeaky and noisy every time you moved a tiny bit the sound was very loud. Suggest a solid base?

Pros:

Food was excellent. Surround countryside is gorgeous. Great old country inn vibe.

Cons:

A ferocious amount of stairs and doors for such a small place. Difficult to move multiple full size suitcases in and out. No help was offered. Mattress is as thin as one you'd find on a fold out couch. Room is pretty small.

Beautiful stay
Pros:

We had a wonderful time at The Bear Inn. The room was exceptionally clean, beautifully decorated, and incredibly comfy—it felt like a real home away from home. The bathroom was just as impressive: spotless, stylish, and clearly maintained with great attention to detail.
​On top of a lovely room, the food was absolutely exceptional. Every meal was cooked to perfection and packed with flavor. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and will definitely be returning!

Cons:

The only thing, and very small thing, the shower was a bit of a non starter but I expect that's due to the old pluming from the beautiful old pub. Not a big deal, it got you clean!

Go for it, you won’t be disappointed, it’s a lovely place, great people great local folk

There was nothing not to like, all was great, my wife and I enjoyed our stay and the food was great.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Pros:

Location was excellent, we stayed in the holiday cottage which was absolutely fine for us and comfortable. The hot water was lovely and hot and it had a decent bath too. The pub does meals and has a lovely atmosphere.

Pros:

Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Very comfortable rooms and excellent breakfasts. Huge choice for evening meals.
Wonderful countryside location but within easy driving distance of various Derbyshire attractions.
Would definitely visit again.

Cannot recommend. Unpleasant experience.
Pros:

We had dinner and it was delicious.

Cons:

Surly and unfriendly (verging on rude) staff, apart from one man who was very courteous.

We stayed in the self catering 'cottage' unit. It was fairly clean, bed comfy but not a place you'd wish to linger! Bathroom was damp, evidence of mould.

We stayed in 3 places during our trip and the Bear was the most expensive (overpriced), the most unpleasant and the one that we would not return to. We couldn't wait to leave.

Thank goodness the evening dinner was lovely but the waiting staff were so unpleasant, we decided not to eat breakfast there the next day.

Unfortunately, bed looked lovely but was creaking with any little movement.

Love the setting and I’ll always come back it’s a bit rough and ready -bar and staff lovely

Same as last time I visited
Also cleanliness - lots of spiders dirty cutlery dirty toilet brush - needs attention to detail

We used thislocation as part of a three day walk with the dogs. The location fitted in well with our designated journey.
