Clean and comfy bed and a nice hot shower. Very well located.
Now the bad.
Entire hotel hasn’t aged well. Carpet and tiles throughout are either disgusting or so worn out they might as well not be there. Disgusting ceiling tiles everywhere. Hotel has a peculiar smell and in certain areas reeks of cigarette smoke.
Didn’t even attempted ‘breakfast’ or an evening meal, just opted to find something in town, there’s no shortage of places to eat!
Location is good and my bed was comfy, staff were helpful.
That's about it.
My room smelled of smoke, the carpets looked dirty, the silicon by the sink was black, the toilet handle was broken, water slowly started to drip through the ceiling after 2 nights. My 'fridge' froze everything. My cold water tap was hot and hot tap was hot.
Basically needs alot of work.
Completely disgusted with booking.com for the rating given to this hotel, which was pleasant - it was absolutely unpleasant. It was dirty, damp, tatty, and falling apart. Not fit for purpose.
Our room and bedding stunk of stale smoke. The toulet door was broken, which meant I got locked inside, then could not close the door afterwards for fear of getting stuck inside again. Broken radiator in the bathroom, making it so hot and uncomfortable.
I am still shocked by the condition and how it has had any good reviews. Feel cheated and disappointed that our trip was spoilt by this awful hotel.
Very much a budget hotel with no frills at all, but the room was excellent with a comfortable bed, a tv and en-suite bathroom. All I really needed for an excellent price. Friendly & helpful staff too. Also a decent size of car park, which is essential and an extra money-saver considering the cost of local car parks.. They don’t do breakfast/meals, but there is an excellent pub The Hop House very close by which does great breakfasts. I’d be happy to stay here again.
You get what you pay for here, we paid cheaply as it was just somewhere to rest our heads on our friends hen weekend, but I was pleasantly surprised. Yes it's basic, and the area is a little run down, but you expect that. It was clean and tidy and had recently been decorated and had new carpet so that was nice. But the clincher that got them a five star review was the staff and owner. Nothing was too much trouble, they carried our cases up stairs so we didn't struggle, they upgraded our friend to their best room free of charge as she was the bride, went to the effort to secure us rooms next to each other etc they were so friendly and kind, it really made the trip worthwhile. When booking here, please don't read the reviews, or look at the out of date pictures and judge! Just come down and see for yourself! It's clean, tidy, and the staff will welcome you with open arms, you don't get a welcome like that at expensive hotels. I can't wait to go back!
• You need to register your car registration at reception when you park in the car park.
• We were shown to our room by receptionist.
• The outside of the building could do with a tidy up such as lick of paint.
• The room was ok cleaning standards wise However the bathtub was not clean. Stains and something was in the plughole we weren't sure what it was so we didn't touch it. We rinsed the bath with some water and shower gel and put the plug in the plughole. It smelt slightly of fish when showering.
• The shower head was on the side and not positioned high up and you couldn't alter the height and so it fell down on my boyfriend who is over 6ft.
• Our room was decorated in a fairly modern style.
• The room is a decent sized room. There was a small fridge and a small desk and chair. Plenty of wardrobe space.
• The pier was only a 10 minute walk away.
• Free WiFi throughout the hotel.
• Plug socket by TV was wobbly.
• Very odd smell in the bedroom.
• There seems to be permanent residents. Possibly more permanent residents than hotels guest. I have seen online that the hotel has applied for planning application to use the ground floor for guests and the rest of the floors as HMO.
• Staff members were friendly and so was a person who appears to be a permanent resident.
• Check out time is up to 11am but they are casual about the timings and you could check out at 12pm.
• Bed is more like a large double/king size. Bed frame was wooden, leather and faux fur. The bed and pillows were comfortable.
• There was loud noises at 1am to 2am which were people talking loudly and banging upstairs.
Honestly, the bad reviews of this hotel is more so because the whole area of Bournemouth was not good. Graffiti everywhere. Rough. Loud. Definitely not a quiet getaway. Bournemouth is not the go to holiday place in the UK that it once was for our parents and grandparents. The hotel looked very similar to other hotels even chain hotels like travel lodge. This hotel will do for one night as a base. I would however not vist Bournemouth itself again but instead Poole.
Some of theses reviews are a joke
Just come back from this hotel after a 2 night stay for a stag do & let me tell you I've stopped in far worse in my time, rooms were clean staff were friendly & helpful place served its purpose I'd happily stop here again
& The fact it was around £150 cheaper than every other hotel it's a no brainer
We (myself, wife and two kids) were offered a room on the top floor. when my wife saw the room she was nearly in tears. it looked like a place from a horror movie. dirty sheets, stained bed, bugs and flies on the bed.
We were then offered another room in the basement, it was dirty and terrible. Only when we rejected first two rooms we were offered a better room. But you could not get rid of the smell. And carpets were everywhere stained and dirty.
Everything is old and dirty i don't know how they allow this place to stay open.
We were so glad when we left that place. Never ever make the mistake to spend a night on that lace, you will regret it for the rest of your life.
The worst hotel we have ever stayed in. Not even worth £20 a night never mind £60 everything needs replacing or repairing and the room we stayed in hadnt been cleaned for months (being generous). Drugs being used on the premises too. Bathroom was filthy, carpets stained, holes & parts not even fitted. Dust everywhere wallpaper coming off the walls radiator had come away from the wall. No hot water. Loose plug sockets and one not fitted correctly. Staff on entering the lady was pleasant but the other 2 we met one had earphones in and not welcoming at all the other on leaving the property had his cigarettes lined up on the counter over all do not book to be honest the whole area looked run down so I would only book hotels actually on the sea front. Have many more photos but could not upload them.
Ok so first off all we get a room in the basement and it’s horrible then they offer us a room on the highest level and the tiles in the bathroom come off like wth and they can’t even afford a really tv it was a god damn fake china tv then we luckily get a better room but it ain’t to good either the window opened a tiny bit and then it didn’t close and the bathroom tile was coming off a bit and it wasn’t cleaned good there was a god damn skittle by the sofa and the furniture is pretty old I would recommend not staying here since it’s a crappy hotel and you can find a better one
This is an HMO owned by a Syrian family that rent out a few rooms to the general public and call it a hotel, it isnt one, Also it is in a very rough area. This is a truely shabby establishment inside and out.
Writing this for my brother
He stayed over in a Saturday night
Said it was awful and like a drug den
Do not go here people
There are plenty of other places to go just near this place. Pay a bit more and go elsewhere
We stayed here last weekend the room was ok but the toilet door didn't close properly the towel rail was hot all the time, the blinds didn't close and was held up with a carrier bag, there was a smell of pot and fag smoke in the hallway. We paid £5 to the reception and went to the pub down the road for breakfast this was fantastic . If you want to stay somewhere cheap then stay here but for a few more pounds stay somewhere else
I stayed in this hotel with about 9 other people for a hen weekend, apart from its location which is very central it one of the worse hotels I've ever stayed in. It's full of mould to the point which we all brought cleaning products to clean our rooms ourselves. In the bathroom the shower was unusable as was full of mould and did not smelt particularly nice. The room itself was tiny with a broken tv, no safety for windows as someone could easily fall.
The plus sockets seemed to mostly be broken. Some of the staff seemed rude and gave sarcastic answers. I would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone and it really needs alot of sorting out and a good deep deep clean. If you have already booked this hotel I suggest you cancel and look elsewhere.
I booked this hotel as it came up as recommended on a booking site, and after staying here I can't believe anyone would recommend it. The room we had was damp smelling with stained ceiling tiles and dodgey electrics. Plug sockets only worked if switch was held which in my eyes was dangerous. There's much better around for your money. Avoid at all costs.
I booked this place based on price and I was definitely disappointed! £60 was paid, so I was expecting a level of it not being great but I don’t think it was even worth £20.
It is like a doss house for Eastern European’s who look like they live there full time.
This place is seriously run down and stinks, literally.
Tv with no signal, damp in room, blinds that don’t work the list could literally go on!
I was only in Bournemouth meeting a stag group for 1 night and thankfully it was only 1 night.
I would never stay here again, honestly don’t was your money it’s appalling.
It’s amazing how this place is even allowed to be open and having guests stay.
Place is a death trap.it would be safer to stay at the bates motel.
Overloaded electrics, bare metal showing on electrical cabling. Blood stained bedding. Raw sewage leaking from a waste pipe under ground floor window. Blocked fire exits. Smoke alarms smashed up and hanging from the ceiling. Do not stay here. Simple
I stayed here for one night with my husband and son the night before my son moved into university.
Okay. It’s certainly not the ritz. But ,although the rooms and on suites are tired, they were clean, new flooring and comfortable beds. The staff were friendly and helpful.
You get what you pay for. Brilliant location close to the town and beach. I can’t say i would book it again for more than a night but I think some of the previous reviews are a little harsh. If you are looking for a night away on a budget and want to be within walking distance to all the local attractions then it’s worth what you pay.
having read lots of reviews and mostly bad we were dreading staying here such a shame huge building very tired in need of lots of tender care bathroom clean but shabby curtains not attatched where they should have been huge bed but must have had a leak as mattress watermarked sheets clean tho staff very friendly and internet great we managed to park in the carpark but it seemed like a lot of abandoned cars as they all had flat tyres ....for £60 rather have stayed elsewhere like ibis or travelodge
Worst hotel I have ever stayed in, 100% would never come here again, nobody stay here this place needs to be shut down!!! Black toilet water, no curtain for the shower, dirty fridge, dirty beds, rude staff, bad management, overall bad experience!!!
