Very nicely done up.
Overpriced for rooms and restaurant. Four of us had dinner, 2 meals were lovely and 2 not particularly good at all.
Bedrooms overlooking the main street need tripe glazing, traffic noise is very noticeable.
Fantastic stay,Absolutely faultless in every way. Cannot wait to return .
This is the second time we've stayed. We returned because we had such a wonderful visit the first time - and few years ago we stayed in War Horse and this time chose Black Beauty. The room itself and facilities in the room were fantastic just like before. Beautiful room, bathroom and comfy bed and we were grateful for all the little extras eg toiletries, slippers, toothbrushes etc which we put to good use. First class on all of this which is why the score is 5 (covering part of the stay). Would give 10 for the room but sadly much much less for the service we received this time.
I'm sorry to say that the rest of the service we received was nothing like what we had received on the previous visit.
Firstly when we arrived the staff were clearly very busy and the lady that greeted us appeared to be also working the restaurant. She was very pleasant and shouted to somebody that she needed to go to a room but once she realised that we'd stayed before she asked if we knew where the rooms were and just sent us up with the key and just said to phone down if we needed anything. We thought fair enough this is probably just a blip and headed upstairs.
When we got upstairs the table next to the rooms door was full and somebody had placed a pouffe in front of the door - we were unable to move it as we had our hands full of bags and also the people sitting at the table were also protruding over the doorway. Nobody offered to move for a moment or help by moving the pouffe so we had to try and lift our cases over the pouffe and shimmy through - not easy when you're in your late 60s and have health issues. Keeping the thoroughfare to the guest rooms clear needs to be looked at as it was unsafe. I know there's another entrance but we were told to go that way and also you come out through that door to get to the bar.
Sadly breakfast finished us off. We went down at 8.30 and were the only ones in the restaurant. We were greeted, offered a choice of table and asked what drink we'd like and told where to get cereals which was fine however the young lady didn't come back to get our order until after we'd finished eating our cereals which meant we then had to sit and wait 30 minutes for an omelette for my husband and some toast for me. There were only tinned peaches, dried fruit and a couple of pieces of fruit in a bowl - no berries of any description.
The room was beautiful and clean. Had a bit of trouble with the TV as the sound bar was a bit echoey but apart from that we were very impressed
As above the TV sound bar
Lovely room and very comfortable bed.
Was disappointed to discover no breakfast was served next morning, took the shine off the whole experience. Booking had stated that Breakfast was included in our stay and was extremely disappointed to discover it was not.
The location was perfect for where we wanted to travel to. We had a delicious evening meal and the breakfast was really good. Everything fresh and if anything my cooked breakfast was too large. All the staff take time to speak to you and you feel comfortable straight away. The rooms are a good size and everything looks new and is spotlessly clean. There are lots of little rooms and it is very quaint. We will definitely be back.
Can you believe the only thing we did not like was the orange fruit juice for breakfast. It certainly was not fresh orange juice, it was a strange thing. I also think maybe ask if people if they want two sausages and two eggs with breakfast, I am sure a lot of people like so much but I felt bad leaving food because there was too much...but it was delicious.
