Casa de la Real Aduana Boutique Hotel

We liked EVERYTHING!! This is a magical special place to stay. This is not a typical hotel. It is a beautifully restored house from the 1600's filled with incredible art everywhere you look. The owners, Didier and Gemma, are very special people that are wonderful conversationalists and share their precious place with you in a way that makes you feel like friends, not just guests. The breakfast is delicious and we had the best sleep in our room that we had had in years!! It was absolutely quiet and dark and the bed was very comfortable. We really cannot wait to return. It's a one of a kind place.

A magical place to stay for a while. The owners, Gemma and Didier, are so hospitable and interesting, we felt right at home here. They have an incredible art collection that they’ve furnished the hotel with, and have some amazing stories to tell. Definitely stay here if you’re coming to Patzcuaro or the region!

Absolutely above and beyond hosts Didier and Gemma offer 5-star accommodations, breakfast, service and and an impeccably friendly experience in Patzcuaro. Location is superb just off the Plaza Grande close to cafés, restaurants and shops. I cried when I left!

Our stay at Casa de la Real Aduana far exceeded our expectations. The attention to detail, the location, the breakfasts, the generous hospitality of Didier and Gemma were extraordinary. It is located in an historic building in the center of town filled with art pieces, antique furniture, courtyard, patios, fireplace, dining room, and more. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. In fact, we enjoyed ourselves so much, we changed our plans and stayed two extra nights.

The breakfast served every morning (often with a roaring wood fire) was delightful. Conversation with Didier, the owner and an extraordinary photographer, print maker, designer, and collector, was wonderful. We did more than have a lovely stay, we made new friends.

We were overwhelmed the minute we entered the gate of Casa de la Real Aduana! The large and ancient house has been beautifully and lovingly restored and surrounds a central courtyard and its plantings. Each walkway was its own museum, filled with Mexican pottery and interesting objects beyond imagination. There are just five attractive guest rooms. Just down the road is the City's Plaza Grande with fountains, sitting areas and lots of shops and restaurants. Patzcuaro was a joy to visit, and Didier and Gemma were special, interesting and welcoming hosts.
