El Dorado Inn

I was very pleased with this booking. El Dorado Hotel is situated close to the city centre, about 15 minute walking distance. It is not recommendable to go out after it gets dark, but the hotel is in a relatively safe area, has a security guard, and there is an upscale hotel with a very good restaurant for dinner just around the corner, about 100m away. The hotel has 24h reception, and you can buy drinks there. Some guests were not happy with the breakfast, but I do not know, why: the lady serving it was friendly, the food good and sufficient. My room was very spacious, actually had two king-size beds (the hotel offered me also a single room, but it would have been for the same price and not through booking.com, which I prefer). Bedding was comfortable, and there was good air conditioning. I had a very disruptive stay, because my luggage had remained in Amsterdam, and I had no appropriate clothing for three days. Still, I could make the best of this stay, taking a tour to Kaieteur Falls from Ogli airport and buy clothing and cosmetics in the nearby mall afterwards. The hotel was understanding and supportive, sending me their trusted taxi driver Mark who was more than punctual for a 5.30 am airport transfer (which allowed me to get my suitcase (which had arrived after midnight) just before my flight to Port of Spain). -- One more thing: I do not like hotels who charge the total price of a reservation, if the guest does not cancel before a deadline days or weeks before the planned arrival. It should never be more than the first night. El Dorado is almost the only place in Georgetown with such a policy, and this is also why II booked it. Thank you.

Clean, large rooms

Great location. Very large room, very quiet where it was situated. The beds were exceptionally comfortable with quality bed linen and a selection of pillows, soft to firm. The room had everything I could possibly need. I loved the touch bedsides lamps with USB charger. The taxi service they use were excellent, very prompt and professional. The breakfasts were really tasty and varied daily. Will book again on my return. I slept so well here, highly recommend.

A very spacious twin room with all amenities, very clean, absolutely friendly fabulous personnel.

The breakfast was in keeping with expectations as compared with other similar institutions however, the portions were a lot too measured as, with my dietary restrictions, the portion was small given what I could have comsumed. The staff were friendly and helpful and the owner was very pleasant.

Overall, my experience at this hotel was exceptional. The staff were very respectful, helpful, and courteous. The room was very clean and made my stay very comfortable. The breakfast was very tasty. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to others

Everything lived up to what was advertised. Staff were very friendly and went out of their way to assist, even anticipated concerns and addressed them before I realized that I would have had to ask. I would tell anyone asking that staying here is a great decision. Breakfast was well above expectations!
