entspannender Kurz- und Wanderurlaub
Pros:

Das Hotel im Nationalpark Hainich hat eine gute Lage für Wandertouristen. Sehr nah am Baumwipfelpfad gelegen, war ein Tagesziel schon erreicht. Dann noch wandern im Nationalpark, völlig entspannend.

Cons:

Wir waren zu einer Jahreszeit (Ende November) angereist, wo das Wetter sehr wechselhaft ist. Leider war das Hotel da nicht mehr gut besucht und wir waren die einzigen Gäste.

Schlichte Unterkunft mit Verbesserungspotential
Pros:

Die Lage mitten im Nationalpark. Das Abendessen im Restaurant und der Service dort waren im Prinzip (vgl
Anmerkung unten) die erfreulichen Umstände dieses Aufenthaltes.

Cons:

Das Zimmer war eiskalt. Die Heizung ließ sich zunächst auch nicht in Betrieb nehmen, da sie (bei einstelligen Temperaturen) zentral abgeschaltet war. Es bedurfte erst einer Beschwerde darüber, damit es geändert wurde. Ein Heizkörper hatte aber gar kein Thermostat, blieb also kalt, wodurch es auch im Zimmer kühl blieb. Auch im Restaurant konnte man nur mit Jacke sitzen.
Der Wasserhahn saß nur wackelig auf dem Waschbecken.
Zum Restaurant: dort wird das Essen mit einem Roboter gebracht. Das ist für mich das Ende einer dem Menschen zugewandten Gastronomie.
Sehr ärgerlich war zudem, dass auf dem Gelände direkt vor dem Hotel abends eine Halloweenparty stattfand, wovon im Vorfeld keine Rede war. Wer diesen heidnischen und kommerziellen Unfug mag, okay, aber für uns war es nur ein Ärgernis.
Auch das Frühstücksbuffet war eher spärlich. Es war erneut sehr kalt im Raum.

Forsthaus Thiemburg muß man erleben.
Pros:

Das Forsthaus Thiemburg im Nationalpark Hainich liegt zentral am Standort zum Baumwipfelpfad, den verschiedenen Wanderrouten u. -rundwegen und der sehr interessanten Erlebniswelt der Flora und Fauna in Thüringen.
Das neue Team ist sehr zuvorkommend, nett und die nur wenige Meter entfernte Unterkunft (hell grünes Haus) ist sehr sauber, zweckmäßig Zimmer mit intergriertes Bad. Der separate Hotelparkplatz liegt gleich hinter dem Restaurent. Das reichhaltige Frühstücks-Buffet mit Dallmeyr Kaffe u. -Tee ist top. Der angebotene Kuchen einer nahen Bäckerei ist wirklich sein Geld wert. Die "Fahner" Getränke sind Klasse. Für Naturinteressierte Familien mit o. ohne Kinder die beste Wahl.
