Freundliche Personal👍
The location is good because it is very central and the room was spacious, clean and isolated for temperature and noise (double-window, as the temperature drops at night and the market outside gets noisy since very early in the morning). They provide airport pick-up for 80k and it went well. They also provide money exchange at a slightly better price compared to banks (just in the black market you can get a bit better if you can negotiate), which was useful. It is true, as underlined in other reviews, that breakfast is small, but still it was comfortable to have it (the bad aspect is that they are slow, in everything: serving breakfast, changing money, and so on). The receptionist was responsive during the pre-arrival organization, though he didn’t help me with the events I wanted to attend.
It is not possible to pay neither through Booking.com nor by card on place. Wi-Fi almost work only on the ground floor. They provide car rental with drivel for the day which is good if you want to make excursions, but I did not choose them to do so because it is not convenient price unless you stay really 12 hours out and about. As stated by previous customers, it is very dangerous to go outside and the problem is not just the area where the hotel is: it is simply Madagascar. I would never recommend families to travel here, even though there would be fun activities like feeding lemures by hand (bananas is what they like the most, of course don’t give them processed food like bread). The area near the hotel gets full of prostitutes (some clearly underage) after sunset and that’s nothing of what happens with dark. I went to eat at the market in front of the hotel carrying nothing with me but 5k (a full dinner costed 3k) and with broken shoes (you can see from the market that, like common in Africa, they cannot break-in locked phones, but may have you at knifepoint for stealing your new shoes). At daytime I saw military men with huge rifles just outside the hotel and it shows that the government is investing on security, but unfortunately there is a long way to go and if with daylight it is kind of ok, after sunset it gets terrible. I read about complaints for weather from tourists who did not come in the dry season: never ever come outside the touristic season (there is a reason if it is called touristic season and you must stick to it, which is longer than many other places – 4 months!): storms hit hard and destroy the already poor infrastructure so it is double danger, not only unpleasant and unworthy.
