Comfortable stay
Pros:

The air conditioning worked very well. It was clean.

Cons:

The monkeys are a bit scary on the roof and balconies. But that is part of being in the jungle.
The luxury room bathroom is down some stairs, so not so convenient at night. The small loft bed in that room also is not really good. The pillow on that small bed had black mould - so advisable to check the pillows.

Wonderful stay at a great location with wonderful staff
Pros:

We stayed at Sam's Bungalows for 5 nights and it was wonderful. Staff is very nice and accommodating. We did a two-day trek with the amazing guide Said Kebo, who is extremely experienced, kind and overall the best guide we could wish for.

At first when booking we were concerned that the location was outside of the city center, but in fact, the street it is located in is the best street for tourists with direct access to the river and a nice hiking path along the river, where you can also take a swim. In other words: the location is actually perfect.

Great accommodate and jungle treks in Bukit Lawang
Pros:

Sam's Bungalow is a great place to stay in Bukit Lawang if you want to be in a quieter part of the town. The room was very generously sized and even had a hot water shower. The bed was very comfortable. The staff were incredibly nice, including Sam himself. My 5-day jungle trek was absolutely wonderful, with Chandra and "Mama" forming a perfect team, guiding me through the jungle and looking after my welfare. In summary, I highly recommend Sam's Bungalow and Treks!

The value for money was good. The breakfast was also good and sufficient and the staff were friendly.

Cons:

The location of my room was not ideal, as it was right next to the walkway, but I could live with that for one night. I was told online that the airport transfer would cost 700k, but in the end, I was charged 800k. This should be communicated more clearly in the future.

Assolutamente consigliato!
Pros:

Tutto, posizione eccellente in questo splendido villaggio, camere belle e pulite. Servizi ottimi, cucina, Wi-Fi e soprattutto la disponibilità dello staff, tutti ragazzi in gamba, gentili e simpatici. L’organizzazione delle escursioni ottima da parte di Andri che ha gestito il trek nella giungla e Farhan al seguito, che fanno parte dello staff di Sam’s. Ci hanno fatto vivere questa esperienza al top, con attenzione alla sicurezza e all’osservazione degli animali. Super consigliato.

Pros:

Property was in a great location on the River. We did a 3 night trek and our guides Joani and Toni were friendly and super professional. The food prepared by Ram was delicious and we were never hungry.

Cons:

The air con on the second level of the guest house had a hard time keeping the room cool enough.

Niet te evenaren service en behulpzaamheid!!
Pros:

Erg vriendelijke en behulpzame organisatie zowel tijdens ons verblijf, als tijdens de tour. Uiterst zelden zo'n behulpzaamheid van al het personeel meegemaakt!!! Ook het eten was zeer goed en een mooie locatie!

Personnel au top à Sam’s bungalow, super chambre
Pros:

Le personnel, très sympathique et serviable. L’emplacement est super, au bord de la rivière, proche du départ du trek. La chambre est propre, confortable, eau chaude et climatisation. Ils nous ont organisé le transfert depuis l’aéroport de Medan, top, en voiture puis la fin en scooter.

Wish I could have stayed longer 🌳
Pros:

Lovely view of the Gunung Leuser National Park from my room. Comfortable room and bed with a spacious terrace. Nice food in Sam’s restaurant.

Cons:

It was on the outskirts of the main area. It wasn’t far to walk but as a female travelling alone, I didn’t like walking up there at night.
