Santa Grand Classic Kuala Lumpur, Chinatown

The air conditioning is really really noisy. The breakfast is not very good. It is British breakfast, personally I don’t really like it.

Room, and hotel generally, was a little cramped.

Breakfast is minimalistic. First day we came down at 9.40 there was literally nothing left but eggs, waffles (no jam) and few veggies. Next morning we got up earlier and had a proper breakfast, so you better hurry :)
Rooms are ok, pretty small but nice, though no smart tv, no place to unpack the cloths, no shelf to put toiletries in the bathroom.
With water running in the bathroom all the time we pretended to camp by the river, it was fun :)

I stayed here twice this month
During my second stay, house keeping came to my room with rentokill (pest control) they appeared quite startled and were a bit cagey when they realised I was home. I didn’t think much of this but then later that day I saw a bug in my room. I was not too bothered by this, but then I woke up on my last morning to a bug nestled in my skin and with a few bites, I asked reception on check out if there was a known pest issue and if they could identify what the pest is, as if it was bed bugs it’s important I know as I’m returning home. I told them my feeling it could have been a tick and that I was worried about this too due to illness, and they advised they didn’t have any information and would speak with housekeeping and make contact with me. I have given them 48 hours grace but no contact received, my feeling is that they know and there was a known pest issue with my room and they purposefully did not disclose this. I understand that pests are mostly out of their control, but I would have appreciated more communication given there could be implications for my health.

Iets wat teleurgesteld in het ontbijt, 1 soort fruit, weinig variatie. Enkel de eitjes worden à la minute gebakken. We zagen ook wat schimmelvorming aan het airco/verluchtingsrooster op de kamer.

The shower took 15 minutes to run to hot water

Even though the rooms are small... They need a bit of upgrading. It's called a Queen room but it's more like a king room.The breakfast needs a lot of improvement... But overall if you don't mind, it's a good place to stay and to start your journey in Kuala Lumpur.

The location, while indeed in the heart of chinatown and many shops and restaurants around. We felt extremely unsafe. Just outside the lobby there were multiple people passed out on the flow (in the middle of the afternoon). There were people shouting at each other, people shouting at us at we walked by, and so many individuals appearing to be high (talking to somewhere who isn't there, staring at us, and completely passed out on the floor. We walked around for 2 hours after checking in and passed by at this 8 people passed out on the floor, immediately checked out and had to book another hotel due to safety concerns.

Room was okay, not very clean and aircon was not strong.

Another umbrella or awning to stop direct sun on lounge chairs.
Breakfast needs to be kept hotter (everything too cold to eat not kept hot)
And fruit & yoghurt would be nice.

Room's air-cond is not cold even though I had set to the coolest temperature. I was sweating even though with air-cond room. And, the toilet flush was continuously flowing after my 1st flush. The flushing sound was bothering me especially when sleeping at night.
