Elegant Lake Yala Safari House

We had an absolutely wonderful stay here! This is a beautiful and peaceful place to stay, and the location is perfect for visiting Yala National Park.

From the moment we arrived, Randy and his family made us feel incredibly welcome. Before we even checked in, we were offered a refreshing drink and a delicious selection of fresh fruit — such a lovely welcome after our journey!

After settling into our room and having some time to relax, Randy took us on a tuk-tuk tour around the lake and through his village. This was honestly one of the highlights of our stay. He showed us the most beautiful spots, told us fascinating stories about the area and shared lots of interesting local facts. It felt so much more personal and authentic than a standard tourist experience. The scenery was absolutely beautiful!

The next morning, Randy arranged our safari to Yala National Park, and everything was perfectly organised. We had an amazing safari and couldn’t have asked for better help or hospitality.

Randy and his family are genuinely kind, warm and incredibly helpful people. You can really feel how much they care about their guests and about sharing their beautiful surroundings.

We can only highly recommend staying here! ❤️ If you’re visiting Yala, we would definitely recommend choosing a small, local guesthouse like this rather than one of the big resorts. You get a much more personal experience while supporting a local family.

Staying at Randy’s place was one of the best experiences of our time in Sri Lanka. From the moment you arrive in the village and take in the nature, you know you’re somewhere special. Randy is the warmest person and a true legend. He couldn’t have done more for us, from showing us around the local wildlife and area, a hobby he is very good at, to sharing local tips and recommendations, including choosing great restaurants! We were truly spoilt by him.

Randy organised a safari for us as well, and this was by far the best we had while in Sri Lanka, really truly personal for guests. The guide’s knowledge was incredible and they were really considerate of the animals. Nature is nature but we saw so much!

The room was large with a great stylish finish and great AC. You can tell that Randy and his family really care about their home stay and guests. It was a shame to only stay one night, Randy and his family are great hosts.

The location is fantastic, the room was comfortable and a good size and the owner was so hospitable and couldn’t do enough for us. Oh and breakfast was the best we have had in Sri Lanka and we have stayed at 5 different places so far!

Fantastic location overlooking the lake floor to ceiling glass windows which allow you to see out without getting too hot. A lovely warm welcome by our host Randy who took us out on a little evening riding in his Tuk Tuk to see sunset wildlife. The bird table outside our room was visited by Indian green parrots and other birds but another highlight was to see a pair of toucans feeding from the table in front of our room. Yala wildlife safari park with Nishankar was fantastic. We saw leopards, sloth bear, elephant, deer, wild Buffalo. Local restaurants were plenty providing excellent food at recent prices.

The host was incredibly kind, attentive, and made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. He arranged an amazing safari driver for us, and we were lucky enough to see elephants, leopards, crocodiles, buffaloes, and many other animals - including a leopard incredibly close to us in a tree! 🐆

The accommodation is brand new, spotless, comfortable, and has hot water. We were welcomed with drinks and fresh fruit, and after the safari, the host even surprised us with ice cream and drinks. Such thoughtful touches!

Definitely our favourite stay in Sri Lanka, and our only regret is staying for just one night. We couldn’t recommend it enough! 🤍

Randy and his family were excellent. It was the best place we stayed in Sri Lanka. The attention to detail and making every guest feel like family, weather you were there for 1 day or a week. The rooms and beautiful the food delicious, he arranged a fantastic safari where we saw 3 leopards. He went above and beyond to make sure our stay exceptional. If you come to Sri Lanka you must stay here

I truly don’t have enough words to describe how wonderful this place was. Randy and his family were some of the kindest and most welcoming people we met during our trip.
The room was absolutely spotless, spacious, comfortable, and had everything we could possibly need. From the moment we arrived, Randy welcomed us with the warmest smile and made us feel completely at home.
He even took the time to show us around his village and shared stories about his life with us. We really appreciated this personal touch, as it made our stay feel so much more meaningful and authentic.
Unfortunately, we only stayed for one night, but if we could have changed our plans, we would have stayed much longer. We are truly grateful for the hospitality and kindness we received.
We wish Randy and his family all the very best and would recommend this place without hesitation. We hope to come back one day!

Nos gustó todo de este hotel. Lo lleva una familia y su dueño Randy esta pendiente de todo. La habitación espectacular con todo detalle y una vista a los pajaritos y las ardillas, precioso. Nos llevo varias noches a cenar cerca con su tuk tuk y sin cobrar añadidos. Además, nos dió un paseo con su tuk tuk ensañandonos toda la zona. Sin duda el mejor hotel de toda Sri Lanka.
Nos prepraro las excursiones a lso safaris y los desplazamientos entre ciudades. No tuvimos que preocuparnos por nada.

Amazing host that makes you feel right at home! He gave us a tour around the area when we arrived, arranged a great safari for is in Yala where we saw 3 leopards, alongside all the other animals like elephants, buffaloes, crocodiles, etc.

Last day we got a great breakfast before we left with some other local gifts which was such a nice gesture. Overall we would 100% come back and recommend.

This place is run by a young family, and the owner has very humble beginnings and an inspiring story — do ask him how he started his own guesthouse!

100% would recommend. We stayed at multiple places around Sri Lanka, and this was by far the cleanest — and I mean squeaky clean. You could walk around the room barefoot without feeling like you needed to wash your feet immediately after 😆

They also provide free tuk-tuk service to and from restaurants nearby, which was such a thoughtful touch. It was a pity we were only there for one night. The takeaway breakfast prepared by his wife was absolutely delicious too.

All in all, it was such a wholesome experience. The family were genuinely warm and sincere. The place is simple, but it has all you need, and you could really feel the care they put into hosting their guests.

Todo. No puedo describir con palabras lo acogidos que nos hemos sentido. Está muy bien ubicado para hacer el safari de Yala, y se ofrecen a organizártelo todo desde el alojamiento. Además, está situado al lado de un lago precioso, con muchísimos tipos de pájaros, cocodrilos y otros muchos animales. El casero, Randy, nos hizo un tour en tuktuk cuando llegamos por los alrededores, explicándonos sobre la fauna, y sobre la cosecha de arroz que hay en los alrededores. La habitación preciosa en medio de la naturaleza, y todo tipo de detalles en cuanto a comida y aperitivos.

Au delà de la propreté et du cadre (beau jardin et lac), Randy et sa famille offrent une expérience inoubliable de partage et de générosité. Je vous recommande de croiser leur chemin.
