Elegant Lake House

An amazing location on the lake, our room looking out onto the garden was just beautiful, was like watching nature's cinema.

The host are so kind and helpful, and genuinely want to ensure everyone has a wonderful stay not only at their hotel but in the local vicinity.

老板超级用心，第一天我们七个人到达的时候就带我们去看了蝙蝠树，酒店位置在湖边，景色绝美，还帮我们安排了雅拉公园的safari，到达时候准备了柠檬水还有点心，safari结束回来还给我们准备了水果和冰棒，房间干净装修很新，我儿子说这家民宿比我们这次旅行最贵的酒店还好。哦对了，还让我们尝了水牛的酸奶，老板真的又帅又好。是我这次斯里兰卡最爱的一家民宿。

Zu unseren großen Überraschung fanden wir hier ein kleines Paradies vor .Für Naturliebhaber ein Muss !!!!
Das Zimmer sehr komfortabel und sauber . Die ganze Anlage und die Lage direkt am mit Seerosen bewachsenen See ist einfach nur traumhaft . Für Vogelliebhaber und Naturliebhaber ein Traum .Der Betreiber der Anlage mit samt der Familie waren so liebevoll , hilfsbereit und Aufmerksam . Sie lesen dem Gast den Wunsch von den Augen ab . Der Eigentümer zeigt ihnen die Umgebung mit dem Tuktuk oder organisiert eine Safari im Nationalpark .
Das wirkliche Paradies aber sein kleines Hotel wo man von morgens bis abends verschiedenste Tiere beobachten kann .
Nochmals vielen Dank für die Gastfreundschaft . Wir wünschen euch viel Glück zur Verwirklichung eures Traums .

Amazing hospitality, great local tour in the village from Randy (the owner) , facilitated the safari trip for us and a car to drive us to our next destination, whenever we want anything Randy is always responsive and there to help literally in anything, and the room was so clean and cozy, would definitely come again.. highly recommended!

Het was een fantastische kamer met een prachtig uitzicht. Bij aankomst kregen we meteen een drankje en hapje, en leidde Randi is ons rond in zijn stad. Ook regelde hij een geweldige Safari voor ons. We zagen alle dieren die we graag wilde spotten (olifanten, luipaarden,…). Ook was iedereen zo gastvrij en vriendelijk, we voelden ons echt thuis.

The Lake House is beautiful, it sits right on a large lake, covered with lily pads, providing the perfect location for peace and serenity. The front garden is frequented by lots of colourful birds and animals and so was the perfect place for us, being nature lovers. In addition, the rooms are spacious, clean and modern with great A/C, and nice floor to ceiling windows.

However, the real highlight of our stay here was Randy, our host, and his lovely family. We were immediately made to feel at home after being greeted with welcome drinks, and a home cooked meal. He then gave up his afternoon to take us out to a local park in his TukTuk, where we saw elephants, crocodiles, exotic birds, and a really interesting museum we didn’t even know existed! He also took us to an amazing beach. He organised our safari in Yala for the following morning, where by some miracle, within the first two minutes we saw a leopard and her cub, and straight after a sloth bear crossing the road right in front of us!

When we returned, Randy made us lunch, and then later in the afternoon took us out for a tour of his village, pointing out tons of interesting things on the way, and telling us a bit about his story and how the Lake House came to be, which was great to hear!

Not only was Randy the best host we’ve ever had from any accommodations, offering an experience beyond what we’ve had from any luxury hotel, but he might also be the nicest person we’ve ever met. We wish him and his family nothing but the best and would love to return in the future.

If you’re staying in Yala, whatever you do, stay here, I promise you won’t regret it.

The host was incredibly genuine and helpful. Took us on a tour of the surrounding area, pointing out the local wildlife to us. We encountered 17 new species of birds in that afternoon alone. It was a birdwatcher’s paradise. The lake is across from the main entrance to the property, housed with frog, birds and other wildlife.
Breakfast was a nice mix of local and western dishes tailored to dietary requirements. Fresh buffalo curd was a highlight as well as red rice.
Close to Yala National Park, and the village of Debarawewa was close enough to explore by Uber/tuk tuk.

L’ospitalità dell’host è stata impeccabile: sempre attento, cordiale e pronto ad aiutarci per qualsiasi esigenza. Ci siamo sentiti subito accolti come a casa.

This is not just a room rental it is actually the hole experience. We defenetly didn't expect this. The owner took care of everything (lunch, dinner recommendation, safari organization) and also a private 3h tour around village and exterior of Yala park with his scooter - that was fantastic. The accommodation was superb. With the reason he has a high rated score. I would definitely recommend it.

I loved staying with Randy and his family. His place is next to a beautiful lake full of wildlife and they have a beautiful garden full of birds. The room was big and comfortable and they were really attentive and made me feel like home. Randy showed me around the area and took me to see local crafting processes. He knows a lot about the culture and history of the Tissamaharama and took me to beautiful places. I really recommend staying in their place and taking some time to see the surroundings.

Very nice stay! Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed and showed our room which was spacious and super clean. Our host is passionate about bird-watching and his village, and shared his knowledge with us by giving us a tour of the surroundings. Special attention was given to details and making sure we had a comfortable stay. Would defintely recommend!

We spent there only one afternoon, night and morning, but in this time we were taken aback how amazing this place is. It's very small hotel, but it is not disadvantage at all. Because where else OWNER HIMSELF would show you around the place, tell you interesting facts and some stories, we got to see parrot tree, we got to see waking up and flying whole pack of bats on late evening. We got to see parrots, squirrels and (actually it was first bird after arrival which we couldn't see later) oriental pied hornbill. We got to see buffaloes and some cormorants and herons and that was even before any safari. We regret to spend only one night there because there is a lot to see and this place is perfect to observe the nature.
But wait, there is more!
Owners hospitality is trully amazing. Right before departure to next place, we were offered small gift and amazing small parting meal. We also heard a bit of the owner story how this hotel came to be. Truly moving.

I can't recommend this place enough. In my opinion no other hotel we visit, can win with this place.

We booked this property solely based on the reviews about the hosts and I can confidently say that every single comment was true. Randy and his family were really welcoming. He happily showed us around his village in a tuk tuk. He took us out to buy whatever we needed and it was really convenient. Our baby got sick during the stay and Randy made sure our baby got whatever she needed. He also arranged our safaris and packed us breakfast. The next morning, Randy and his family cooked us the best ever breakfast we have ever had in the whole trip. We genuinely felt sad leaving him and his place. Highly recommend this place and Randy.

This is a really nice and calm place to stay in the middle of beautiful nature and also close to a small town and yala national park. Also, the owners are really nice people. I would definitely recommend to stay here!

Also Randy, the host, is a star! He went above and beyond to make our stay even better. He even took us on a tour through the town showing us unique spots. The food was also great! Fantastic experience, I would recommend other travellers to choose this place!

Struttura collocata in buona posizione per fare poi il safari a Yala, ancorché un po' decentrata rispetto al paese (ma vicina al lago che c'è in zona). L'host Randi è stato gentilissimo e super accogliente, offrendoci frutta e succhi all'arrivo, accompagnandoci col suo tuc tuc a Tissamaharama a cena (e venendoci a riprendere), preparandoci la colazione al sacco per il safari (partenza 5.30) e poi facendoci trovare un altro ristoro dopo il safari (ovviamente la camera era rimasta a nostra disposizione fino al ritorno dal safari).
Stanza pulita, spaziosa e confortevole.
Consigliatissimo.
