Disappointing and underwhelmed
Pros:

Location and the Manager was attentive.

Cons:

Not once was I asked if my food was OK or the room or stay was OK, I had to ask for basics like butter to go with the bread, the waitress seemed to be annoyed when asked for anything, not at all friendly just someone doing a job but not really enjoying it.
Room was OK but certainly not a junior suite, short room really small and no heating in there. Bed very comfy but woke several times as really cold once heating automatically turns off.
Dinner was amazing but breakfast not so much, I had the continental but there was no choice you got what they decided you wanted, there was a bowl of fruit amongst some kind of toasted bread and conserves but no butter, I requested some yogurt to accompany my fruit which I was given no more than an egg cup full if that so had to again ask for more which all seemed too much trouble. Again with the same waitress.

Lovely traditional pub with tasty food
Pros:

The staff were very welcoming and personable

Cons:

The food was very tasty and good ingredients. Bit on the high pricing side and additional sides were extra although I think this is the same for many places now.

Fabulous food but a noisy guest
Pros:

The food is , as always, wonderful. Attention to detail, wonderful flavours. The absolute best Creme brulé I have ever eaten in my life 😋

Cons:

One guest ( no fault of the hotel) who had the loudest voice and 'totally invaded ' my normal peace and tranquility that I get when I visit.

I had to put in ear phones ( like the young people do) and I could still hear him and everything he said , including swearing.
He definitely spoiled my evening and was also there at breakfast trying to engage me in a conversation that I most definitely did not want to have.

Nice place be careful of the shower.
Pros:

Large room, pub, breakfast

Cons:

Shower, hot water too hot, scolded myself when turned the wrong tap off, shower had been left running, so I had not realised realised how hot the water was and which tap was the mixer and which was the flow. turned cold off instead of flow. Could not get out of the way and shower head kept springing back to the centre when I tried to push it away.

Clean but if you have limited mobility steps unsafe .
Pros:

Clean , nice white bedding. The staff. Being telephoned to say we had left our phone charger. Tasty food . Swirl Tv and having iPlayer so we could catch up on strictly. But room small.

Cons:

I am sorry to say we were disappointed in this place. Very step very difficult steps to bedroom. The breakfast was strange and not suitable for price of stay . No cooked breakfast included. Continental poor offering. Very very small amount of fruit offered. 1 small serving of yoghurt between two , I slice of cold toast each. One cup of tea each and a dry unpleasant cinnamon cake each, which we could not eat. Staff inattentive at breakfast did not even ask if we wanted more tea. Evening meal was tasty . Bed was uncomfortable , poor quality mattress, bed small too. Room quite small but ok for one night. I did not like the glass fridge in restaurant area showing dead fish hanging up and raw meat. Also lots of old jars of pickles all round the place, all looked disgusting and old. Would not stay again or recommend.

A last minute find that didn't disappoint.
Pros:

The staff were excellent, friendly and accommodating. The food was also lovely.

Cons:

The first room we stayed in wasn't particularly comfortable compared to what we are used to. The king bed we stayed in was great and much more what we're used to.

In short, book it!
Pros:

A fabulous little gem of a find. With amazing staff, tasty cocktails, and stunningly well done food. We had no idea we would be treated to such a diverse and superbly done menu. The rooms well thought out, well appointed and snuggly.
The staff were brilliant, friendly, caring and fun. I am sure we will be back.
Thank you to the lady taking care of us at breakfast and understanding our inability to devour all the amazing choices available.
