What a lovely place this is, and the food was gorgeous.
Our waitress Rachel was fantastic and couldn't do enough for us, thank you Rachel.
Location was fantastic.
Evening meal was great
Decor, ambience, facilities, very tasty evening meal and cooked breakfast.
Wasn’t allowed to walk our dog on to the grass surrounding the hotel.
Loved the deco. The food was delicious. The staff so friendly and helpful.
The views from the dining area and our room
Could be cool in places and not enough seating in bar area when it gets busy
Great service and great food. The lamb shank was spectacular. Big thank you to our very good young waiter. Great views and a great beer garden.
Excellent stay beautiful hotel welcoming staff and the food was delicious I have coeliac disease and the majority of meals can be made gluten free We will be back
We had passed the Maynard on several occasions and thought it looked lovely. So we made a quick stop for drinks. A week after stopping here for a drink on our way home we received a parking fine for £100. It had been dark when we arrived and we saw no notice. We weren’t informed that we needed to register our car number at reception. Obviously not going to stop here again.
Love the history and features of the Maynard combined with comfort and superb food
Family Sunday lunch for a 60th birthday. Food & staff were great. However I found it very disappointing that for such a reputable venue that it has NO baby changing facilities. I was offered the disabled toilet but would still have to change my child on the toilet floor!
Lovely place inside as we went when it was dark . The food was very nice, the salad was so different and the chicken was delicious. Our waiter was excellent, very friendly and couldn’t do enough for myself and my friend . However recently I was very shocked to received a letter in the post of a £100 parking fine . After ringing up and speaking with the receptionist she informed me that there are signs in the car park and on reception about registering your vehicle on arrival. As it was pitch black and the lighting in the car park wasn’t good, neither my friend or myself saw this. In fact we could only just see the entrance to the hotel, not good at all. I suggest brighter lights or more of them. My friend booked in and nothing was said by the receptionist about registering and we certainly didn’t see anything. The lady on reception did cancel the fine and I also received confirmation of this . Very disappointing to get a fine and we would think twice now about returning as this has put us right off. Let’s hope the staff also remember to remind guests to register their car .
We had a great time and would definitely return to this hotel. It was very comfortable and warm and all the staff were very welcoming and helpful. The food was great. We used the walks leaflet in the room to go on a beautiful walk straight from the door of the hotel. As there are another 5 walks to do we will need to return. I’m
Impressive historical building in the beautiful Peak District. Very comfortable, tastefully furnished room with spotlessly clean and modern facilities. Fabulous breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff.
The only thing that bothered us was the shower. I got the hang of the basic controls eventually but the temperature fluctuated wildly between boiling hot and freezing cold. Hubby stepped in, thinking I was being an idiot but he couldn't work it either. There aren't any shops or places to eat if you're walking around the immediate area.
Lovely room and pleasant staff. The food was great.
Nothing.
Friendly staff, comfortable bed, good food
Noisy extractor fans outside our room and would have liked an option to choose fruit and cereals etc from a buffet. Was shocked that a cappuccino was an “extra” at breakfast!
