We had a really relaxing stay and were made to feel very welcome
Pros:

Very comfortable hotel. Lovely atmosphere. Great and attentive staff nothing was too much trouble

Cons:

Nothing really. We felt the main spa room was a little cool but otherwise all was gorgeous

Wonderful hotel , but
Pros:

Love the room, the hotel, the location. The spa is exceptionally good. Evening meal was outstanding.

Cons:

My issue is having to pay an extra £50 early check in charge in order to use the spa. Most hotels allow full use of their facilities before the usual 3pm check in. Having to pay extra , on top of the spa entry fee is both opportunistic and exploitative.

Average.
Pros:

The building is beautiful.

Cons:

The buiding and grounds itself is beautiful. Having visited this hotel several times over the past 15 years, it feels that it has not been maintained or updated. The rooms are very dated, the spa was unclean, and the outdoor hot tub was in a poor state of repair, with concrete crumbling into the water. The outdoor area to spa was unkempt, external flooring covered in moss, and overall the place felt tired and neglected.
I stayed in a Garden Suite, which is close to the top room category, yet it felt no better than a high end suite at a nearby three-star hotel I’ve used, at less than half the price for two nights not one.

On top of that, everything comes at an additional cost. I ended up spending around £200 extra during my stay, bringing the total to approximately £850 for what was, ultimately, very average experience. I felt the hotel is significantly overpriced for the quality offered and is in clear need of investment and upkeep.

Nice
Pros:

Lovely hotel but then its not cheap so it should be. The waiter that served us dinner was very attentive and informative.

Cons:

The food and beverages were quite expensive and I hadn't realised that hotel guests had to pay extra to use the spa but this was my mistake.

A bit of luxury in the Sussex country-side
Pros:

The Alexander House is a well recommended hotel out in the Sussex country-side. Nice fittings in the rooms. Nice combination of modern and traditional.

Cons:

I noticed that behind a sideboard in the hallway there was an empty plastic water bottle and what looked like a glass container from ketchup. For a 5-star hotel it is disappointing that this was not picked up.
We had some cocktails in the bar. The bar lady was very friendly and communicative. Didn't provide a coaster for our drinks. Small details like that count. We decided to add the bar bill to our rooms but the bar lady couldn't do it at her station so we had to go to the reception desk. When we arrived, a manager walked out and very sternly asked us what we wanted. I felt a little more of a courteous manner could have served them well. Finally, there was a Google nest terminal installed in our room. It was turned on but not hooked up or connected so we had a light source that we had to unplug to get rid of. Again, small details but they matter. For such a prestigious location we were somewhat disappointed with the service.

Not very special, but very expensive.
Pros:

The building itself is very nice, and the spa is quiet and relaxed.

Cons:

I just had higher expectations for 400 a night than a bog standard hotel room that is in need of maintenance with a towel rail that doesn't function, cracked tiles, a window that doesn't operate well, missing door stop and doesn't even have any USB slots. And, for some inexplicable reason, the downlights in the ceiling are right above your face.

Beautiful venu great service and facilities.
Pros:

Beautiful looking building. Exceptionally clean with tremendous spa facilities.
All of the staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The meal in the restaurant was one of the best I have ever had.

Cons:

Our room was cold because the radiator had not been switched on. A simple fix that I did myself. However, for the price and the fact it’s five star you would have expected it to have been warm when we entered the room.

Very relaxing stay in a beautiful setting.
Pros:

The property was stunning and the spa was lovely. Food was excellent and the staff were friendly and attentive.

Cons:

I found there was not enough seating around the pool area for the number of guests so we could not relax around the pool or put our things anywhere. My treatment room for one of my treatments was a bit chilly but these are only small matters and has not taken away from the experience at all.

Great staff but could have been more obliging and given us a decent room following on from the issue with the heating
Pros:

Staff were brilliant. Especially Lilly Webber

The food was very good

Loved the open fires

The spa pool area was very noisy with the jacuzzi jets etc. I think this is because the pool is in a basement area

Cons:

The first room was too hot as the heating had broken. We asked to move. The second room was a tiny tatty box room. We couldn’t open the window at night as the air conditioning units were outside and making a lot of noise
