A bit of luxury in the Sussex country-side
Pros:

The Alexander House is a well recommended hotel out in the Sussex country-side. Nice fittings in the rooms. Nice combination of modern and traditional.

Cons:

I noticed that behind a sideboard in the hallway there was an empty plastic water bottle and what looked like a glass container from ketchup. For a 5-star hotel it is disappointing that this was not picked up.
We had some cocktails in the bar. The bar lady was very friendly and communicative. Didn't provide a coaster for our drinks. Small details like that count. We decided to add the bar bill to our rooms but the bar lady couldn't do it at her station so we had to go to the reception desk. When we arrived, a manager walked out and very sternly asked us what we wanted. I felt a little more of a courteous manner could have served them well. Finally, there was a Google nest terminal installed in our room. It was turned on but not hooked up or connected so we had a light source that we had to unplug to get rid of. Again, small details but they matter. For such a prestigious location we were somewhat disappointed with the service.

Beautiful venu great service and facilities.
Pros:

Beautiful looking building. Exceptionally clean with tremendous spa facilities.
All of the staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The meal in the restaurant was one of the best I have ever had.

Cons:

Our room was cold because the radiator had not been switched on. A simple fix that I did myself. However, for the price and the fact it’s five star you would have expected it to have been warm when we entered the room.

Not very special, but very expensive.
Pros:

The building itself is very nice, and the spa is quiet and relaxed.

Cons:

I just had higher expectations for 400 a night than a bog standard hotel room that is in need of maintenance with a towel rail that doesn't function, cracked tiles, a window that doesn't operate well, missing door stop and doesn't even have any USB slots. And, for some inexplicable reason, the downlights in the ceiling are right above your face.

Very relaxing stay in a beautiful setting.
Pros:

The property was stunning and the spa was lovely. Food was excellent and the staff were friendly and attentive.

Cons:

I found there was not enough seating around the pool area for the number of guests so we could not relax around the pool or put our things anywhere. My treatment room for one of my treatments was a bit chilly but these are only small matters and has not taken away from the experience at all.

Great staff but could have been more obliging and given us a decent room following on from the issue with the heating
Pros:

Staff were brilliant. Especially Lilly Webber

The food was very good

Loved the open fires

The spa pool area was very noisy with the jacuzzi jets etc. I think this is because the pool is in a basement area

Cons:

The first room was too hot as the heating had broken. We asked to move. The second room was a tiny tatty box room. We couldn’t open the window at night as the air conditioning units were outside and making a lot of noise

No
Pros:

The property's setting and grandeur are exactly what you’d expect from a country retreat.

Cons:

The staff were helpful, but the overall operation of the hotel was disappointing. It did not meet the expectations set by its star rating and price. The spa was lovely, but the temperature was not hot enough. The outside sauna was out of order, and there was no signage or explanation; staff seemed unaware of the issue. The restaurant provided terrible service; when we inquired about the menu, the waiter was unfamiliar with the set menu courses. Additionally, plates were being removed before we finished, which is not the experience expected for a £405 bill.

Generally okay but not worth it for the cost. Being charged per day to use the pool is crazy and embarrassing.
Pros:

We enjoyed our stay

Cons:

The rooms look tired and are in need of an update. The reception staff need to cheer up. It was disappointing to find out that you need to pay an additional £20 per person to use the swimming pool whilst being a resident. This has put me off staying with you again if honest. Ive never stayed in a hotel that charges a premium to use the swimming pool!
