Excellent value, clean and functional
Pros:

Great location, good quality rooms, very clean and functional. Good value for money. Nice bar and restaurant.

Cons:

If you want breakfast, get in there early. Breakfast was advertised as being up to 9am, however it seemed that the food ran out by around 8:30am and there was a reluctance to produce any more.
Also, don't expect to be able to get late drinks as the bar shuts early with no resident's facilities

Strange .. the f you don’t want a decent sleep then stay
Pros:

Location - on the high street

Cons:

Our first impression wasn’t great. The car park was extremely busy, with no dedicated spaces for hotel guests, making it difficult to find anywhere to park. It also didn’t help that some cars were poorly parked, reducing the number of available spaces.

We were allocated a front-facing room, and it quickly became clear why the hotel provides earplugs. We had the window open due to the warm weather, but were woken at around 6am by the market being set up outside. The room itself was on a noticeable slope, which felt particularly unsafe in the bathroom. There was a warning on the door about the step as you entered, but nothing mentioning the sloping floor.

Breakfast was disappointing. The hot water for drinks was only lukewarm, and the black pudding was rock hard. The sausages, however, were very nice. The breakfast service also felt quite chaotic, with staff appearing rushed and disorganised. Although breakfast didn’t begin until 8am, we were told we couldn’t wait in the bar and were asked to wait elsewhere.

During our stay, we also found there were only two power sockets, both located behind the TV. When we asked for an extension lead, we were initially offered a different room, but it was further away and directly above the function room, where the noise was even louder. We chose to stay where we were, and to the hotel’s credit, they did provide an extension lead.

When checking out, I explained the issues we’d experienced. The staff member seemed surprised and said they had never received complaints about these things before, which I found difficult to believe given our experience.

Overall, the hotel feels dated and in need of improvement. After a two-night stay, we came home exhausted due to the lack of sleep and discomfort. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t stay here again, and for almost £200, it was one of the most disappointing hotel stays I’ve had.

Warm welcoming hotel, great location and lovely staff
Pros:

Location is perfect, centre of town, nice little courtyard and large bar area. Very friendly helpful staff - Zoe in particular goes out of her way to make you feel welcome

Cons:

No air conditioning and the window didn’t open in our room. Large fan provided but it did get very hot. Stairs are very steep, and plentiful
