Location and room were exceptional. The animals are well taken care of.
Disappointed with the way the staff interacted with me for the stay as well as the booking and checkout experience. Was also not happy with breakfast. No buffet.
The pretty view, animals/zoo experience and maintenance of botanical gardens
The road to get in/out of property was treacherous and no warning. Inaccessible without a 4x4. Hotel does not pick up calls or reply to emails.
The food selection was very limited, poor quality, stale and significantly lacking for a five star resort. Cannot stress enough how awful the food was for what a five star resort expectation would be.
No form of liveliness/entertainment and no water activities options considering is a beach resort. The sauna was not working and grubby. Pools had limited to no sun loungers, no ease of accessing towels.
Rooms were missing since amenities such as shower gel, conditioner or iron (not a single one in the whole resort).
The location during rainy season has a bit of challenge, if you have a small car. Otherwise the place has a wonderful seafront facing garden, with views of the ocean and an animal park. Bonus is one can experience feeding the animals.
Service at the restaurant could be better. Food was just okay.

Bedroom linen was not very clean. Had some stains. Sometimes different staff have us different information so created a bit of confusion for us. We also wanted a specific accommodation and were willing to pay extra but was refused the opportunity even if it was empty during our whole stay
I like the view .I didn't like the hotel ambience.Hotel has to indicate that they don't sell alcohol in the hotel. Too expensive when you compare the services the hotel provided. The breakfast and dinner is very poor by the variety. Poor hotel. It is not in compliance with five stars hotel concept!!!!!
We didn't like anything except the occean view...the road reach in the hotel is in wearst condition you need four wheels drive vehicle!!!!
Aya Sophia was a perfect add on to our south beach stay when visiting Dar. Visiting the animals was a perfect way for our kids to see them without the crazy prices of a safari park (as a foreigner). Great rooms, gardens and the restaurant food (we ate curry) was also excellent
