Everything was incredible! Every detail of the grounds, the room, the food, the drinks, the staff, were all perfect! The entire staff was amazing and super attentive and detailed. Gusti, Ami, and Ade were all awesome. There was a specific time around sunset where the mosquitos go a little crazier than any other point in the day and my wife ended up getting a few bug bites one night. Gusti made a mixture to put on the bug bites that got rid of them entirely by the next morning. It was a life saver.

This place is an absolute gem. The team was beyond wonderful and made our stay a literal core memory. Being here was magical: A team that quickly feels like family, amazing massages, a really great kitchen, the views down to the rice paddies with exotic birds flying all around you, spacious clean rooms, a private hot water pool, perfect water pressure in the shower, and a lovely team that goes an extra mile for you every day. The gym is cute and well equipped and options for Yoga and personal training rounded off a stay where we could not be unhealthy even if we really wanted to be 🤣

Can't say enough good things about this hotel. When we had some initial issues with our room, the staff went above and beyond in fixing them and making us feel welcome and comfortable. The hotel itself is amazing and perfectly located in Ubud, the restaurant has great breakfast and dinning (we always had breakfast and dinner there as the food was so good), but the very best thing about the hotel is the kind and extremely competent staff (special mention to Adi and Gusti who are just incredible people). Loved the easy communication through whatsapp.

I would like to start by thanking the entire hotel team. Every single staff member was incredibly attentive, and their English was excellent — communication was always smooth and effortless. They even prepared a surprise birthday celebration for us, which made us feel truly cared for and incredibly happy.
From the moment we arrived, everything was exceptional. The airport pickup service was amazing — they welcomed us with cold towels and fresh coconut water, which instantly relieved travel fatigue. The hotel also created a WhatsApp group specifically for us, so any request or question could be communicated instantly. It genuinely felt like having a private butler service!
What makes this place even more special is that there are only six rooms in total. Most of the time, you barely see other guests, so it’s almost like having the entire hotel to yourself. It feels peaceful, exclusive, and very relaxing. Our room was connected directly to the massage room — we could literally open our door and walk straight in. Our perfect daily routine became: floating breakfast in the morning → massage right after → returning to our room → then into our heated private pool. Absolute bliss.
I must especially mention the massage — I have not found another therapist in Bali with such high-level skill. I highly recommend that everyone tries it.
All the water at the hotel is filtered twice, so you can drink it directly without any worries — I never experienced any discomfort. If I return to Bali again, I will definitely choose this hotel again.

Where to begin, the area, the view, the food, the gym, but most importantly the staff. Massive massive thanks and shoutout to Jun, Eka, Rana and Gusti for making our stay so magical! When first reading the reviews, we did not really believe in 'feeling like family' on the first day. However, the people from Uma Kalai showed us differently. There was a authentic, sincere, warm, family-like feeling from the moment of arrival till the last minutes of our stay. Staff went totally out of their way to make sure you're comfortable and have everything you need. It was one of the best stays we have ever had. We would 100% recommend this boutique resort to everyone else and can't wait to come back!

I’ve travelled extensively and I think Uma Kalai is up there with one of the best places I’ve ever stayed. The staff treat you like family, do everything to make you feel comfortable and exceeded my expectations in terms of service. Place is spotlessly clean and the breakfast was amazing. Cannot rate highly enough. The massage at the spa was exceptional.

Great stay, great villa, and everyone is very nice

Uma Kalai was truly one of the highlights of my trip to Indonesia. The hotel is absolutely impeccable — the rooms are spacious and incredibly comfortable, the spa and gym are excellent, and the staff genuinely go above and beyond to make sure you feel cared for at all times. The restaurant is outstanding as well, with delicious food and great attention to detail. I’m already looking forward to coming back on my next visit to Indonesia.

We had a wonderful stay at Uma Kalai. This boutique villa resort is small and intimate – only six villas for around twelve guests – which creates a peaceful and very private atmosphere. It felt like a personal sanctuary surrounded by nature.

The staff were absolutely amazing – warm, attentive, and always ready to help. Because of the limited number of guests, every request was handled quickly and with genuine care. From arranging transport and excursions to tailoring breakfast preferences, everything was effortless and perfectly organized.

The location is ideal for exploring Bali. It’s close enough to Ubud and many major attractions, yet far enough to enjoy total peace and quiet after a day of sightseeing.

Our villa with heated pool was beautifully designed, with elegant interiors and great attention to detail. The surrounding gardens and views made it even more relaxing.

In summary, Uma Kalai exceeded all our expectations. It’s a true hidden gem, calm, luxurious, and with a service that makes you feel completely at home. We would love to return and can recommend it without hesitation.
