Was everything i needed
The friendly host and all the ammenities
Curtains let too much light through for my taste
I had an amazing stay at Balfour street. Martha was lovely and very friendly and I hope to go back again. The room was spotless and the stay was quiet with no interference. You couldn’t get better value for money especially with how close it is to the city centre.
Disregard the bad reviews on this property, they made me skeptical for the stay and I soon as I got there I realised it was nonsense. It’s a shame people moan about being told off for smoking in a non smoking property. You will have no issues at this property.
It was exactly what I expected. The location is perfect, easy access to the center of the town. Very friendly and quiet.
Nothing! She was so rude and asked me to pay an extra £15 that’s was NOT in the description.
Every thing stay away
Rating: 1/10 (Zero if I could)
Title: Felt like a prison. Hostile environment, hidden fees, and absolute nightmare.
Do not book this place unless you want to feel trapped, terrified, and extorted for extra cash.
Before I even arrived, the host demanded an undisclosed £15 "cleaning fee" via bank transfer/cash. When I tried to cancel immediately because of this hidden fee, she refused to refund me, leaving me with no choice but to stay.
The two days I spent here were genuinely traumatic. The host's behavior is incredibly hostile and controlling. I was completely restricted from normal living:
1. Intimidation: I was yelled at just for walking downstairs to get water at night because the old stairs creaked. I was told to be completely silent at all times, including when opening or closing doors.
2. Extortion for Amenities: The listing claimed a washing machine was included. Instead, she demanded £4 for a 14-minute wash, £8 for 30 minutes, plus £2 for detergent, then refused to let me wash clothes after 7 PM.
3. Bizarre Restrictions: I was told not to leave a single drop of water on the bathroom floor after bathing and had to mop it immediately. I was micro-managed on how to use the microwave/oven (told I couldn't open it or run it for more than 30 seconds).
4. Fake Listing: Almost none of the advertised facilities (iron, cleaning products, drying rack, fan) were provided. I literally had to dry my wet clothes on the window curtain rod.
I paid £56 for the room and was forced to pay an extra £15 cleaning fee, yet she forced me to do all the cleaning myself. I felt like an unpaid cleaner in a prison rather than a paying guest. I fled early in the morning on July 3rd just to escape. Avoid at all costs.
Always a pleasure staying at this property.
When martha runs out of milk for coffee lol
Very friendly owner and usually a quite place.
Martha is such a great host, a pleasure to be around, goes out of her way to help you. Why cant all hotels or stays of this have such high standards in customer relations.

15 pounds hidden charge and staff's behaviour very bad
I did not stay overnight as planned because I was very dissatisfied with the experience. I checked out and booked alternative accommodation elsewhere. I also requested a refund, as the situation did not meet reasonable expectations. Overall, it was a very poor experience..
Communication from the staff was rude and unprofessional. I work at Bradford College and finished at 9:00 pm, then arrived at the property around 10:00 pm. When I expressed my dissatisfaction to a staff member, she responded by texting me and falsely suggesting that I was intoxicated. I do not drink alcohol, and I consider this allegation inappropriate and distressing.
The place appeared to be overstaffed, but the service was still poorly handled. The environment did not match expectations and felt more like a retail space than a proper accommodation.
I was initially told the charge would be £15, but I was later asked to pay £50 without clear explanation, which was unexpected and unacceptable.
