Kamer zonder raam maar wel air conditioning.Muf en niet fris. Badkamer afgebladderd vies en niet afgewerkt. Kraan los. Heel klein benauwd en veel geluidsoverlast. Totaal overpriced voor 30 dollar per nacht. Geen comfort slechte plek naast kroeg. Geen thee. Zeker af te raden Geen faciliteiten.

Pros:

I stayed there only one night, but everything was OK. Clean room, comfortable bed and close walking distance to the beach.
It's located in the centre of the town and it is a place with the live music playing till late opposite the house.

Great location and the hostess seems very nice.

Cons:

The room I was in was not very nice looking. Judging by other reviews there are nicer rooms available. The one window (attached) is right next to the door. No need to use a key!

Homely atmosphere, tasty food and perfect location
Pros:

I had a great time staying at this house, I felt at home. It is perfectly located, just a few hundred metres to Hiriketiya beach and good restaurants around. The rooms are basic and clean, good value for money, the breakfast exceptional - various traditional Sri Lankan dishes that vary daily plus fruits, with an amazing dal as staple. I would recommend it to everyone staying there as it is one of the best and most affordable options in town if you prefer traditional cuisine. You also get to eat outside, in the courtyard, with an occasional monkey lurking about. :) The hosts were really kind and caring, they also offered me an affordable ride to Ella after my 10-day stay with them. I would definitely stay there again!

Cons:

Because the house is so centrally located there is a potential downside for people who want total silence during the night. I didn't mind it but some could find live music in the restaurant nearby interfering with their sleep.

Wonderful stay, lovely Host.
Pros:

We had such a lovely stay at 50*, the owners couldn’t have been more kind. The breakfast was delicious, and the location was perfect. The showers were amazing and beds very comfy. Would highly recommend for anyone visiting Hiriketiya - stay here if you get the chance!

Cozy but loud
Pros:

Little quaint room with my own door to the outside. The owners were so nice and were super helpful with everything I needed. It was right in town next to shops and a few restaurants!

Cons:

It was very loud. I could hear the music from the restaurant next door and there were dog fights multiple times that woke me up. There was also a cat that kept meowing throughout the night that somehow sounded like it was in my room, but it definitely wasn’t. None of this is the properties fault, but this just isn’t the place for a light sleeper!
