Too expensive for what it is
Pros:

Nice rooftop terrace with the views to Chimborazo.

Cons:

We wouldn’t stay again. First, I stayed two nights solo with online booking, and everything was as expected, I even got a breakfast included in the price which I wasn’t aware of. After some time, I returned to stay for 4 more nights with my friend and I didn’t make online booking, just asked for the room upon arrival. I was sure that the room price is 25 USD per night, but during the check out the owner wanted 25 USD PER PERSON.

It’s not a hostel to charge per person or per bed, so I was very surprised. I understand paying a bit more if staying 1 vs. 2 people but doubling the room rate is ridiculous. The quality of the room is nowhere near the price point of 50 USD per night and you can easily find a better and cheaper accommodation even in Quito or Cuenca. The room is small and during 4 nights stay, it wasn’t clean even once.

Also, we were asked to pay extra for the breakfast, which suddenly stopped being included in the price. If you ask for the breakfast to be served at 8 AM, this is actually the time when the owner enters the kitchen and start preparing it, so don’t have hopes to start eating for another 20-30 minutes, which makes difficult to start the day early.

They also partner with a tour agency doing day trips to Chimborazo, but it’s much cheaper to organize a private taxi (any car can go there, no need for 4x4 as it is claimed but the tour agency). Or take a bus heading to Guaranda and ask be to dropped as the entrance to national park.

Overall, the prices and charging logic should be communicated better, otherwise we felt we were taken advantage of and we would definitely stay somewhere else if we knew before how much we were going to pay as we simply thought the place wasn’t worth it.

Experiência maravilhosa, hospedagem e atendimento 10/10
Pros:

Minha experiência foi maravilhosa! A proprietária é extremamente educada, simpática, atenciosa e uma pessoa incrível. Desde o início me senti muito bem recebido.
O lugar é muito tranquilo e silencioso, a internet funciona super bem, a ducha é excelente e a cama é muito confortável. Tudo estava muito limpo.
Também tive a oportunidade de contratar, através da própria hospedagem, um guia para conhecer o Chimborazo, e foi uma das melhores experiências que tive durante a viagem. O guia foi excelente e recomendo muito para quem pretende conhecer o Chimborazo.
Outro ponto positivo é que você pode solicitar o café da manhã por um valor muito acessível. O café da manhã é delicioso e preparado pela própria proprietária, com muito carinho.
Foi realmente uma experiência 10/10. Recomendo muito esta hospedagem para quem estiver em Riobamba!

A truly memorable stay! Irma creates a space that immediately feels like a family home and goes way above and beyond to make sure your stay is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

Would highly recommend booking the Chimborazo tour through Irma’s contact and also a visit to EcoGranel to find authentic, healthy local products.

Amerita venir a Riobamba solo por quedarse acá
Pros:

Hay pocas maneras de describir una experiencia cómo la que viví yo en este lugar.
No solo porque el alojamiento sea muy bueno (que lo es), sino por su gente. La señora Irma, sus hijos y esposo, son fácilmente las mejores personas que he conocido en mi viaje por Ecuador.
Desde allí pude salir a conocer El Altar y El Chimborazo, te dan información y ofrecen guianza.

Fuera de eso, recomiendo encarecidamente quedarse en este lugar. Se bien que no puede ser el hotel más lujoso pero por su atención, lo amerita al 100%.

(El mejor desayuno de todo el Ecuador) 😅🤞🏻

Irma die Gastgeberin ist spitze. Sie hilft einen bei allem. Ihre Tips für Touren oder Ausflüge sind hervorragend. Das Frühstück ist top und mit viel Liebe zubereitet. Die Zimmer sind sehr komfortabel und sehr sauber. Steckdose n in Bettnähe, Nachttisch Licht, heiße Dusche, sehr gute Betten, Kissen und Bettdecke.
Zum Zentrum sind es etwa 10-15 min zu Fuß, dafür sind die Taxis aber sehr günstig (zum Bus Bahnhof 1,75 USD)
Leider hatte ich mir den Rücken verrissen, Irma hat mir aber einen Physiotherapeuten organisiert und und ich konnte am nächsten Tag schon zum Chimborazo hinauf steigen. Vielen Dank Irma für den unvergesslichen Aufenthalt 🫶

Ojo que al ser hostal las habitaciones no cuentan con baño privado. Igual el desayuno no se sirve de manera puntual. Es un lugar limpio. Si tiene parqueadero pero se debe pagar
