Nothing. All was perfect.
The staff and the historical place, such a unique stay.
Such a wonderful stay in Jaisalmer. We wanted a traditional stay in the “Golden City” and this was the perfect match. It’s 500 years old Haveli with originality well preserved by the owners who stay in the same house. We were delighted by the hospitality of the owners who treated us with kindness and extended warmth throughout our stay. We were taken for a fort walking tour with history of the place so well explained. We strongly recommend this place in Jaisalmer.
Nothing

On recommande vivement.

Assolutamente NULLA
Amazing location in fort within a haveli. Great breakfast! Free fort tour. They let us keep stuff while on safari and then shower after. Can't recommend this place enough! An amazing place and family to stay with!!
The position in the center of the old city and the ancient structure of the building
The room without air conditioning was beautiful but too hot
We had booked a suite and the room was actually and truly a suite.
There was a wide corridor leading to a spacious seating/dining area which opened into a large bedroom. The Haveli window opens directly to the highest rampart of the fort. So our bedroom itself was a view point!!!!! The open courtyard and the intricately carved windows and doors really take you back in time.
We loved the complimentary HERITAGE WALK, learnt many interesting / unheard of stories that are not in the pages of travel magazines. Like the Unique Wedding Invitations of Jaisalmer and the Unfinished Memorials of the Kings and the Relocated JAIN Temple.
The hotel also organized a DESERT SAFARI. We were told that we would be taken to a unique spot NOT frequented by other tourists. We thought it was 'marketing talk'. But the spot where we were taken to (On Camels) was actually a very beautiful and secluded spot. The Sky was so close and soooo clear. It was almost like watching the dome of a Planetarium. My daughter loved it.
The Haveli is located inside the innermost ring of the Jaisalmer fort.
The Taxi / Auto stop at the second gate. From there one has to WALK to the Haveli.
Of course the hotel will ferry your luggage on two-wheelers. But Taxi will Not drop you to the hotel door. Expect 5-10 minutes of walking to reach the hotel.
The view from our room was stunning.
The location is great and quiet.
The staff is really friendly and helpful.
Just lovely! The King room is spectacular - was one of our best stays in India.
The room was more like a suit with the sitting area, bedroom and bathroom. Considering this is 500 years old Haveli, they managed to incorporate modern facilities like AC and shower with hot water.
the view from the room was ok, looking out to the city from the fort.
Location was close to Jain temple and made for an easy moving around.
the family that hosted us was very accommodative and took good care of us.
Although we like to walk, sometimes walking in the heat through the congested, and not always clean Jaisalmer was cumbersome. The breakfast area across from the main Haveli offered good views, but the entry there could have been cleaner.
Lovely old Haveli in the Fort. The family is very welcoming and understandably proud of their history and heritage. The walking tour was very informative. The front rooms are more atmospheric than the back rooms, but all are spacious and well kept. The “nooks” were spectacular for watching the sunrise/sunset and viewing the chain temples. We booked a camel tour through their recommended guide which we enjoyed.
The building is amazing (500 years old, breathtaking history). Family lives in the house (a real home stay) and tries everything to make one feel good. Breakfast on the rooftop of the house next door with a wonderful view of the Jain temples. The rooms/suites are so special (beautifully carved stone).
Bathroom could be problematic for older or disabled persons.
If you’re after a heritage property with no frills thus us your place. Our train was delayed and arrived at 1 am but the hotel had arranged transport for us from the station & we were welcomed even at that time. The room looked palatial, well decorated & a view onto the street. There was no aircon but this was as advertised & the fan was more than sufficient while we were there. We stayed over the Holi festival & enjoyed the celebrations with the family on the Thursday night. They also advised us on the day itself. We had a complementary tour of the fort which was fab. Each time we arrived back at the hotel we were welcomed as if we were part of the family. Great stay & would recommend.
Nothing
Hotel Suraj has a lot of character, but not clean enough for western tastes. Staff were pleasant and helpful, the breakfast was good. The room was large and the bathroom worked
None of the doors or windows sealed. There were pigeons in the foyer. We couldn't open the window shutters in case pigeons flew/walked in, so the room was dark. There were 2 species of Gekko in the room and I was fearful of what else could enter. The fittings were dusty and dated
