Pros:

Logement calme dans une famille adorable et très aidante. Ils nous ont proposé des visites locales avec un prix très correct ainsi que Chathu comme driver de TukTuk.

Pros:

We spent 1 night at the accommodation, the owners are incredibly kind people. The host's wife prepared an excellent dinner for us, everything was very delicious. We also got a surprise in the morning, we could have breakfast on a new terrace with a view of Sigiriya. We had a great time, thank you for everything. :)

An unforgettable stay with a wonderful family
Pros:

Our stay with this host family was truly unforgettable. They took such wonderful care of us and always made sure we were comfortable and happy. No matter where we wanted to go, the host drove us there by tuk-tuk or car, waited for us, and safely brought us back. He even organized and joined us on a jeep safari, which was an amazing experience.

The rooms were beautiful, and the terrace was a real highlight – such a lovely place to relax. The location is fantastic: seeing Lion Rock right from the property was something very special, and all attractions are just minutes away.

We received so many great tips, enjoyed an excellent dinner there, and truly felt cared for in every possible way. Such a warm, kind, and loving family – we would recommend this place from the bottom of our hearts and would return anytime.

Pros:

Location is close to the monuments ( Lions rock, Pidurangala rock) but still not in the center of Sigiriya so you get nature all around. The garden around is beautiful and the terrace is a great spot to hang out. The owners were very kind to us. The husband offered and took us on Safari in Kandulla for a very good price, the wife made great breakfast and dinner. The husband also took us to day trip to Polonaruwa. The internet connection was good. There was hot water and AC. We felt really welcomed. We recommend it big time! 😊

Lovely homestay with spotless rooms and warm hosts
Pros:

Mango Villa is a wonderful homestay in Sigiriya. The room was perfectly clean, comfortable, and equipped with air conditioning. The house is surrounded by plants, and the host family is very warm and welcoming.

Breakfast each morning was tasty, and while there are restaurants within walking distance, you can also enjoy dinner at the homestay, with a menu of local dishes. The main attractions are only a 10-minute drive away, making it very convenient. As Sigiriya was part of a longer two-month trip for me, I was especially grateful for the laundry service.

Cons:

The water temperature in the shower was not very warm, but this was a minor inconvenience.

Unterkunft im Grünen mit charmant familiärer Note
Pros:

Uns hat es in der familienbetriebenen Unterkunft gut gefallen, es war sehr sauber, gute Zimmerausstattung. Besonders die Moskitonetze haben uns gerettet! Es gab eine gemütliche Terrasse vor den Zimmern und andere Sitzgelegenheiten im Grünen. Die ganze Familie kümmert sich sehr um ihre Gäste, gibt auch Ausflugsempfehlungen und bietet selbst Safaris an. Auch Dinner wird zubereitet - köstlich!

Cons:

Beim Einchecken gab es Verwirrung bei der Bettenbelegung in den Zimmern im Abgleich zur Buchung, was uns den Start etwas getrübt hat. Es konnte dann aber alles schnell geklärt werden.

Atenció i amabilitat dels anfitrions, sempre respectant el nostre espai i temps. Ademés faciliten informació i ajuda per totes les activitats que vulguis fer. Esmorzar cingales molts bo i variat, cada dia diferent. Habitacions comòdes, netes i cuidant tots els detalls. Va ser magnífic hospedar-se i compartir amb els anfitrions i els seus fills, que són encantadors. Gràcies!!!

Tolle Homestay-Erfahrung mit schönem Garten bei warmherziger Familie!
Pros:

Wir hatten zwei Doppelzimmer mit A/C. Die Lage ist sehr ruhig im Wald etwas außerhalb von Sigiriya. Im Garten gab es schöne Hängematten zum Entspannen und der Garten ist toll angelegt. Die Gastgeberin hat uns jeden Tag ein tolles, abwechslungsreiches Frühstück serviert, wir haben auch mehrfach abends dort gegessen. Außerdem haben wir einen ereignisreichen Tagesausflug in Shantas Jeep mit ihm gemacht. Vormittags waren wir in Pollonaruwa, wo es unglaublich heiß war und wir froh waren, Socken dabei zu haben, um einige heilige Stätten betreten zu können. Nach einem Lunch Stop bei einer Dorffamilie, wo es ein leckeres Buffet gab, haben wir eine Elefantensafari gemacht. Dabei haben wir ca. 80 Elefanten gesehen, außerdem Wasserbüffel, Affen, ein Krokodil, Adler, Kormorane und eine Eule. Shanta hat auch ein Tuk Tuk und hat uns am Lion Rock abgeholt und sogar morgens um 5 Uhr einen Transport zum Pidurangala Rock möglich gemacht, um den Sonnenaufgang zu sehen. Alles in allem hatten wir einen großartigen Aufenthalt in der Mango Villa mit einer sehr netten Gastgeberfamilie (der jüngste Sohn ist sehr süß!) und können diese weiterempfehlen!

Cons:

Die Mango Villa ist ca. 20 Minuten zu Fuß von der Dorfmitte Sigiriyas entfernt. Man kann dorthin laufen, aber es war sehr heiß, als wir dort waren, deshalb sind wir immer mit dem Tuk Tuk gefahren.

Overcharged us!
Pros:

The lady who checked us in and cooked dinner/breakfast was lovely (she had very little english). The mosquito nets over the bed were in good condition and worked well.

Cons:

The owner overcharged us and tried to rip us off! When we arrived at the property we requested to reduce our length of stay from 3 nights to 2 through the booking.com app (within free cancellation period). The owner said that we could reduce to 2 but needed to change it through the app and refused to accept the change in the app on his end. He even asked us to cancel the entire booking (and pay) then re book for 2 nights and pay again! when we said this was effectivly charging for 5 nights he laughed and said exactly! when we checked out we just accepted that we would have to pay for the 3 nights, however, 1 hour after we left he accepted the change to 2 nights in the app and the price updated to 2 nights. when I messaged him about this he said we could come back and collect the difference (we were already 4 hours away on a train which he knew). usually I would accept this charge as its a family run place but we even offered to cover the booking.com charges for the third night and he was just so obviously taking advantage and ripping us off.
Do not book the safari through his company it was the most expencive one we saw, we booked down the road at budget holiday planning for 1/4 of the price and it ended up being one of his jeeps anyway.
Dinner was the most expencive curry and rice we have had in Sri Lanka.
The owner took us to his friend to hire bikes and then one broke while we were 20 minutes from the property and when we called the owner he refused to provide help.
The owner said he had bad english but we think that this was only when it suited him to say he couldnt understand us.
The room and beds smelt so bad of mould, even after we left the smell stuck to all our belongings, also no mosquito nets over the window in the bathroom so lots of mosquitos.

Cons:

A bit farther from many of the restaurants but it’s still a pretty easy walk. Also the food served at Mango Villa was better than any of the restaurants I tried anyway!
