Yala Southern Homestay

The hosts are the best! The kindest people you will ever meet. Very accommodating, they helped book our 2 full safari days in Yala National Park which were great & good value for money. The breakfast was amazing! We also ate dinner twice at the homestay after our safari tours which were delicious & at a good price. They even provided a takeaway breakfast for the safari days even though the safari tour included breakfast. They’ll give you coffee/tea before you leave for your tour too. Comfortable bed with AC & hot water. We used their bicycles free of charge to cycle to town & the nearby lake to watch the flying foxes & go out for dinner (which they also recommended us to do). They also helped with organising a taxi transfer from our previous location at a good price & provided recommendations of transport options for our onward travels. Spacious balcony outside the room with table & chairs. Beautiful garden with banana & mango trees. And they even have pet fish & a cute young german shepherd! A wonderful homestay for great value for money, would recommend!

Everything was absolutely perfect! The property was immaculate and the hosts were so sweet and hospitable. We booked the safari through them and we had and ended up being cheaper than anywhere else. Our host woke up super early to pack us breakfast to bring to the safari too and it was delicious!
Felt like being part of the family and we wish we stayed longer! We will definitely be back! Thank you for making our stay memorable!

Ps: they have a big dog called Tobby which is soo cute and friendly.

We stayed at Yala Southern Homestay for one night (BB) in February 2026, and it was the highlight of our trip. The property is beautiful and the rooms were sparkling clean, but what really makes this place special is the hosts. Their hospitality is top-notch!

The Safari:
The hosts arranged everything for us. It was perfectly timed—we reached the safari gate around 3:00 PM . We were able to spot crocodiles, a variety of birds, and the famous Yala elephants! Will visit again for the leopards as it was not our lucky day.

The Food:
Breakfast was absolutely "yum" and delicious—the perfect way to refuel.

If you're looking for a personal touch and a stress-free safari, I highly recommend this stay. We will definitely be back!

Good place to stay if you're doing safaris in Yala. Hosts are very welcoming and prepared amazing breakfast and dinner. Room was comfortable and had all the required amenities.

The breakfast was SO GOOD. The best Sri Lankan breakfast we have had so far. The owners are very friendly, as is their GIANT dog. The room itself is pretty typical. Nice and clean and comfortable. The cost for a night was a great value.

we had a great time staying here at this small but welcoming place for 3 nights as we went to both bundala and yala national park. The hosts organized the safari for us as well as the transport on our last day to the next accommodation we went to which was really comfortable for us. On both of the days we did the safari we were given delicious breakfast sandwiches with fruit and on our last day we got served a beautiful authentic sri lankan breakfast which was lovely! Угостили соком, обедом с дороги. Когда мы сказали, что идем в центр, хозяйка предложила зонтик (было палящее солнце). Вечером заказала фреш ананасовый - хозяин специально поехал за ананасом, так как не было на тот момент.
Двор - ухоженный, зеленый. Рыбки в аквариуме, чудная овчарка Тоби и кролик Банни добавляли атмосферы. Комната чистая, было все, что нужно. Горячая вода тоже.
Центр Тиссы - около двух километров. Там же озеро, по которому обязательно стоит прокатиться на моторной лодке - множество разнообразных птиц, в зарослях - крокодил.
Это все было волшебно!

Yala Southern Homestay is run by the loveliest couple you could wish for. From the moment we arrived, they did everything they could to make us feel at home. They are incredibly kind and helpful. It truly felt like coming home.

The accommodation is simple but very clean and comfortable. Our room had a nice shower and everything we needed. The kids loved the garden and the rabbit.

Breakfast was an absolute highlight: generous, with delicious local dishes and fresh fruit, partly from their own garden. We also had a delicious dinner at the homestay prepared by the hostess after our safari. We arranged the full-day safari through the hostess as well, and it was perfectly organized. All in all, this was a wonderful experience. We highly recommend this homestay to anyone looking for a warm, personal, and authentic place to stay.

Everything was good with the stay, the staff were awesome with us, I highly recommend them.

The family is very friendly and try to make us very comfortable in all respects. We are team of 8 people and we all enjoyed our stay there.
