Serene Homestay Ella

Our stay at Serene Homestay in Ella was absolutely amazing and it was easily the best homestay we have ever stayed in. From the view to the amazing free breakfast and tuktuk service all our expectations were met and surpassed.

Honestly one of the best parts of our whole Sri Lanka trip. This is a proper family-run place and you can feel it from the moment you arrive. So warm and welcoming.

Breakfast every morning was incredible. Some of the best food we had the entire trip, which is saying something. Inusha sorted us out with a tuk tuk service too which made getting around Ella so easy and stress-free.

The views from the room are just ridiculous. We spent so much time on the balcony watching the rain come in over the hills. Rooms are really comfortable and modern too.

Just a really special place run by genuinely generous people. Can’t recommend it enough.

The hosts were exceptionally kind and caring. Inusha took us everywhere we wanted to go (including a 6 am start to a hike) and picked us up again in his tuktuk for a very reasonable price. This removed any issues with the location being further out of town. He also arranged for our laundry to be done. Breakfasts were varied, delicious and plentiful. The beds are large and super comfy.

Huge chalet with beautiful views - including from the shower! The communication from the hosts was great. I got lost a little doing the rock hike in the morning and so had to check out late, but they were very understanding even though they had guests about to check in.

Der Sohn bringt einen jederzeit zum fairen Preis mit seinem TukTuk in die Stadt und wieder zurück (ca 15 Min), hat uns spontanen einen Roller organisiert und ist immer über WhatsApp erreichbar. Man hat eine hervorragende Aussicht vom Balkon aus und kann den Geräuschen des Dschungels lauschen. Hervorragendes Frühstück von den Eltern zubereitet.

We had a wonderful stay. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the accommodation overall was cozy and very well designed for a relaxing experience.
The two terraces are absolutely exceptional, offering breathtaking views.
The breakfast was very generous and delicious, with great variety and quality.
Above all, the kindness and warm welcome from the hosts truly exceeded all our expectations. Their hospitality made our stay even more special. We would definitely come back and highly recommend this place.

We had a wonderful, relaxing time at serene homestay. Lasanti, Priantha and Inusha were all so welcoming and attentive. The location is about 20 mins walk along the scenic train tracks to Ella centre, which is ideal for enjoying a quieter atmosphere with great views. Inusha can also take you anywhere you want to go in his tuk tuk. The room itself was comfortable and very clean. We had breakfast and dinner which were both delicious and extremely generous portions. Overall I would highly recommend staying here.

Die Unterkunft ist frisch renoviert, wir waren die ersten Gäste nach der Renovierung. Es ist alles super sauber und modern, total gemütlich und der Blick ist einfach traumhaft. Es gibt zwei Balkone mit einer tollen Aussicht und Sitzsäcken. Die Gastgeber sind super freundlich und jederzeit für alle Fragen erreichbar. Das Frühstück ist riesig und super lecker. Das Zentrum von Ella ist gut drei Kilometer entfernt. Man kann laufen oder einfach ein Tuk-Tuk nehmen.

A nossa estadia em Ella, Sri Lanka, foi simplesmente encantadora. Tivemos o pequeno-almoço incluído, que era preparado e servido pelo casal anfitrião, sempre com um sorriso e uma simpatia genuína. O pequeno-almoço era maravilhoso, muito saboroso e preparado com todo o cuidado.

Vamos guardad para sempre a memória de acordar, sentar a tomar aquele pequeno-almoço delicioso e apreciar aquela vista incrível logo pela manhã, foi um dos momentos mais especiais da nossa viagem.

Também tivemos a oportunidade de jantar na casa e provar comida típica do Sri Lanka, e foi igualmente uma experiência fantástica, cheia de sabor e autenticidade.

O quarto era acolhedor e confortável, perfeito para descansar depois de um dia a explorar Ella.

Sem dúvida, uma estadia que recordaremos com muito carinho.

The location was incredible. The food was delicious - I had rice and curry most evenings. Perfect level of spice.

The family were so welcoming and lovely. They always ensured you were okay and had everything you needed. Breakfasts were absolutely delicious with home cooked sweet and savoury dishes - and so much food. Make sure you have dinner cooked one evening by the owners - it’s an absolute treat.
We spent many hours watching the monkeys, chipmunks and birds that are really close to your balcony. A wonderful stay despite the awful rainy weather.

Our stay at Serene Homestay was amazing. The room is super comfortable and very clean. Plus, you simply cannot beat the balcony views, just amazing. It might be a little further (only 10min from centre though) but it’s so peaceful and worth it for the views!! We really enjoyed having our breakfasts and some relaxing time in the balcony.

The hosts are some of the best I’ve ever had and you can’t find this level of hospitality in many places. They went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. They offer a big and tasty breakfast with food, juice, coffee or tea. It’s so much that we took some for lunch every day that we stayed there. They were also ways happy to accommodate us and help us in any way.

The honesty may is a little further from the centre (only 10min) but the host’s son was great and is able to drive us wherever we want in his tuktuk for a very small fee. He is a great driver too and will also give you recommendations if needed.

The home is also very close to the trek path to Ella’s Rock so great if you are looking to do some hiking. Plus, you’re just 5min away from the train tracks which you can walk down to Ella centre in less than 30min and it’s a beautiful easy walk.

We had a wonderful time at serem Homestay and couldn’t recommend this enough!

Such a beautiful location. A little outside of Ella the scenery made up for it. Inusha was happy to take us and pick us up at anytime in his Tuk Tuk

Everything was perfect. The property is located outside the main city so it is calmer and not touristy at all. It is also close to one of the main hikes up to Ella Rock. The hosts provided excellent food, both for breakfast and dinner. The dinner was probably the best we had for our trip so far, I highly recommend

Wir wurden von einer sehr netten Familie in der Unterkunft angetroffen und während unseres Aufenthaltes umsorgt. Herausragend war insbesondere das Frühstück mit einer riesen Auswahl an lokalen und super leckeren Speisen. Wir konnten uns zudem problemlos einen Roller für die Tage mieten und bei Bedarf ein Tuktuk bestellen. Zudem hatten wir einen sehr schönen Ausblick vom Balkon.

Beautiful family who above and beyond for us. We felt very welcome from the moment we arrived. The family even surprised us with a honeymoon cake and decoration in our room. The breakfast was the best we had in Sri Lanka! Also, the view was amazing and their son happily drove us anywhere we needed to go in his Tuk Tuk with a small fee.

We couldn’t rank this place higher. 10/10!

The family who run the stay are really friendly and generous people. The house is up in the hills which gives fantastic views from the balcony but means Ella city centre is a long walk (30+ mins), however the son has a tuk tuk and happily drove us around for a very small fee. Me and my partner had the best sleep we’ve had at this place too.

Overall, the place is gorgeous and the family made our stay feel special.
