Everything
We did not eat breakfast but everything and more was available for us. Just run out of time
Everything was perfect 3 rooms booked whole family enjoyed our stay
The staff were very friendly and helpfull. Good facilities for your comfort.
Netflix and YouTube weren't available as stated in the post. 2 cocroaches were found in the room during our stay.
Breakfast was okay. Self-service on cereal, rusks. Since I'm not big on breakfast, coffee, tea, was readily available.
We arrived approximately 2 hours later than expected (between 21h00 - 22h00 at night.
I agree we were a bit noisy unpacking, etc and the host was quite bullish about it, also because we could not inform him of our late arrival. Since we are not South Africans, we did not have internet to inform him in advance after we crossed the border. He also gave the room which we reserved to some other guest, and the third extra person in our group, which we agreed we will pay extra when we arrive, had to find other accommodation for the night. Well, the next day he was a bit friendlier and he also gave us an extra room for the third person in our group to compensate for the room which he gave to the other guests.
Everything this place was what I was looking for my 4 day stay in Western Cape I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.
Nothing
The venue is like "home away from home". Clean, cosy, comfortable and friendly environment even for our guests. Loved my room.
The other visitors were lovely people but didn't go to rooms @ 22h00. They chatted until 23h35 at night and the light kept me awake shining into my room from the dining room area. I did fortunately report it after checking out and trust my next stay won't have a repeat of this.
Bed
This was a highly disappointing and unprofessional experience from start to finish. Upon arrival, I rang the bell multiple times with no response and was forced to call the owner before I could gain access. This is completely unacceptable for any accommodation provider.
There was a clear lack of respect for basic guest boundaries. The owner smoked freely throughout the property, creating an unpleasant and inappropriate environment. In addition, there was a cricket in the bedroom, which disrupted my sleep for the entire night—something that should have been addressed prior to check-in.
The overall management of the stay was intrusive and poorly handled. I was kept waiting while the owner attempted to fix a light in the room, and later, he returned and knocked while I was preparing for bed, which was highly inappropriate and invasive.
The most concerning issue was the owner’s conduct after checkout. While I was seated in the dining area waiting for my transport—having travelled from Cape Town for work and visiting Paarl to check on an unwell colleague—the owner attempted to charge me an additional R400 simply for waiting. This felt exploitative and demonstrated a clear prioritization of money over basic hospitality and professionalism.
Overall, the property is poorly managed, lacks respect for guest comfort and privacy, and falls far below acceptable hospitality standards. I would strongly caution others before booking here.
It was clean and serene
Nothing
The area was nice and quiet.
The check-in process was smooth; however, a more welcoming and friendly approach would have been appreciated. The room I had originally booked was advertised as having a garden view with visibility of the pool, but the room allocated to us was situated in a corner facing a wall, which was disappointing.
Additionally, I had to request assistance from a staff member to show me around and help me familiarise myself with the facilities. While I did reach out with a few questions via the provided contact number, I only received an automated response and no follow-up assistance thereafter.
Unfortunately, the experience was further affected during the night when a snail crawled onto my face while I was asleep, which was extremely unpleasant and unsettling.
Great staff and host. We felt do comfortable and at home!
Everything I needed was available, good wifi, a comfortable bed and also small touches that made my stay pleasant e.g coffee, tea and cereal totally free within specified time. I really enjoyed the accommodation, the location was convenient and the host Robert made us feel welcome. The peaceful atmosphere made the stay even better.
