Wir hatten 10 Hotels in Thailand. Dies war das Beste. Tolle Lage, mitten in den Bergen. Fühlte sich wie eine Lodge in “out-of-Africa” an, nur ohne Zebras.
Am Besten: Das Essen. Tolles Abendessen abseits des Thai-Klischees mit echtem lokalen Input und europäischem Stil welches ein Auszeichnung verdient und alleine eine Reise wert ist.

We loved the complete luxury of the King Suite with spa bath.l, not to mention the beauty of the entire property. Every aspect was top of the line from the beautiful furniture, to the comfort of the luxurious bed, the authentic artwork, decadent jacuzzi on the deck overlooking the garden (they provided candles for extra romance), the sublime view from our private balcony…. so much thought and care put in to every detail. Phillip, Gale, Pen and the entire staff were wonderful! So helpful and friendly. and couldn’t do enough to make our stay memorable. We enjoyed the sunrise breakfast excursion with Pen, who provided information about the surrounding area and people - we’ll always treasure the memory of eating our delicious breakfast, cooked over an open fire and served to us as the sun broke through the early morning cloud and turned the sky a glorious pink. I could go on and on. Gale, Phillip and Pen have created a true paradise at Kanlaya’s Eyrie. Thanks for the memories. We will definitely be back.

La struttura è molto curata, la camera ampia, arredata in modo gradevole, con patio affacciato sul giardino, immerso in una lussureggiante natura. Lo staff cordiale ed accogliente. Abbiamo cenato per due sere in un'atmosfera romantica, con il focolare accesso, gustando ricette locali molto apprezzate. Un ringraziamento particolare a Jaka, la guida locale che con modi schietti ed autentici ci ha fatto fatto conoscere aspetti del villaggio Karen dove vive, illustrandoci le caratteristiche delle piante della foresta.

Our 3-night stay at Kanlaya’s was the highlight of our honeymoon. If you are planning a trip, book the Honeymoon Suite and stay for at least 3 nights—though you'll likely wish you stayed longer.
The Accommodation
The Honeymoon Suite is carved directly into the jungle and overlooks the Burmese Shan hills. It is easily the most beautiful and luxurious room on the entire Mae Hong Son loop. It provided the perfect, serene atmosphere for our celebration.
Authentic Cultural Experiences
The hospitality and excursions truly set this stay apart:
• Guided Jungle Trek: We spent a day trekking through the hills and a nearby Karen village with an incredibly knowledgeable guide.
• Sunrise & Local Life Tour: Our host, Philip, took us for an unforgettable sunrise breakfast. This was followed by an intimate tour of local villages where we met coffee farmers, learned about their process, and were even blessed by a local monk.
Pro-Tips for Travelers
• When to Visit: Prime time is from October to early February for the best weather and scenery.
• Duration: Don't rush. Stay a minimum of 3 nights to fully soak in the culture and the views.
Final Verdict: This stay exceeded every expectation we had. Do yourself a favor and book it now—you will be so grateful you did.

Besonders gefiel uns das sehr leckere extra für uns gekochte, sehr umfangreiche thailändische Abendessen.

Außergewöhnlich die sehr persönliche Betreuung. Es gibt nur 5 Zimmer, dazu die sehr schöne Anlage am Hang über dem Fluss, mit vielen verschiedenen Sitzmöglichkeiten.

Die vorgeschlagenen Ausflüge sind zwar nicht billig, aber es wird enorm etwas geboten und die lokale Bevölkerung wird damit unterstützt.

Wir haben die Sunrise Tour und die Urwaldwanderung mit Kochen in Bambusrohren auf Lagerfeuer unternommen. Beides sehr persönliche Touren und mit vielen schönen Erlebnissen und Eindrücken.

Nous avons fait une mini excursion le matin pour voir le lever de soleil, c’était magique.

Tout était absolument merveilleux. Le lieu est magnifique, surtout le jardin luxuriant. La chambre est très agréable, avec une literie excellente et une vue imprenable sur le jardin et la rivière. Philippe, le propriétaire, est incroyablement sympathique et vous donnera de précieux conseils sur la région et la ville. Je recommande vivement de visiter la cave au coucher du soleil pour assister à un spectacle magique : des centaines de milliers d’oiseaux rentrent dans la cave. Et n’oubliez pas de profiter du très bon petit-déjeuner !

One word MAGNIFICENT

This location can be succinctly described as Classy: designed and decorated with taste, giving it a unique combination of comfort and hominess together with subdued yet classy luxuriousness. The location is heart-stoppingly beautiful on the upper slope of a hill overlooking a winding creek, thick rainforest and green agricultural fields - with views going to a far far distance. The hosts personally attended to our every request and took extra steps to pamper us: for example the hostess handed us a pair of binoculars because the view is so amazing and there really are so many layers of interesting things to see. The heavy rainfall kept us indoor but the outdoor covered jacuzzi facing the amazing view was an exceptional experience. There is a world of additional activities which we could not partake in or enjoy - because we were there for only one night and under heavy rainfall - but this is a place worth staying at - and for longer durations.

Wow what a find if you love nature appreciate a highly rural location, outstanding service and attention to detail from the owners, then this will be a real find for you.

The quality of accommodation is well above anything you will find in the best of hotels in Northern Thailand. This build has been lavished with an attention to detail in design and execution which now continues into the day to day running and will leave you wanting for nothing.

Yes it is at a reassuringly higher price than surrounding accommodation, but you really will be getting what you pay for. We can only thank Phillip and Gail for giving us excellent food and the benefit of their local knowledge.
