Lake Wind

One of the most beautiful, serene and incredibly stunning places we stayed. Lovely, friendly and kind hosts who can’t do enough to help. I can’t describe how picturesque the place is - you have to see for yourself. It is the only place I have stayed and spent the next day deciding how I can make something this beautiful at home. We mostly stayed in high end and well reviewed accommodation which met our expectations during our three week stay in Sri Lanka, but nothing touched us in the way this place did. Truly beautiful and very special place with wonderful souls as hosts.

Wir hatten das Zimmer mit drei Betten (linkes Zimmer). Das Bett war bequem. Ein Moskitonetz vorhanden. Es gab nur wenige Mücken (März), trotz traumhafter Lage direkt am See. Eine Klimaanlage und warme Dusche sind vorhanden. Die Unterkunft war sehr sauber und geräumig. Die Hauswirte sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Wir haben das Frühstück und Abendessen dort genossen. Das bereitgestellte aufbereitete Wasser ist uns bekommen. Der Gastgeber gibt tolle Tips und organisiert Touren zu fairen Preisen. Er fährt auch selbst mit seinem Tuk Tuk. Eine Safari in den nahen Naturpark ist lohnend. Alle Naturliebhaber werden auf ihre Kosten kommen. Am See blühen Seerosen. Vom Freisitz aus lassen sich Adler, Ibis, Eisvögel und viele mehr beobachten.
Definitiv ein Platz an den man gerne wiederkommt.

Gastgeber sehr aufmerksam und freundlich, hat Ausflüge arrangiert. Frühstück sehr abwechslungsreich. Sehr schöne Lage am See.

This lake-side retreat was a complete delight. Our hosts could not have been more friendly and helpful. The view from the viewing platform over the water was beautiful and the bird life a joy to watch, The home-made dinners and breakfasts were delicious. We have stayed in many homestays and cannot rate this particular homestay too highly. Superb!

This is one of the best places we stayed in! My partner and I stayed here for four nights, and we felt totally pampered :)) Apart from the amazing room and views, what we absolutely loved were the delicious home-cooked fresh meals and the hospitality of the hosts! He also drove us to Sigiriya, Polonnuwara, and Dambulla for a great price! And later, packed us a little snack for free while leaving.

We are definitely coming back here and is a must-stay for anyone travelling through Sri Lanka!

This homestay has a wonderful natural setting in a lush garden on the edge of a lake, about 20 minutes walk from the centre of Habarana. It is peaceful, though there is some low noise from the distant highway and, during my stay, the occasional throb of music from a neighbour. The 3 rooms are clean and comfortable, with both aircon and fans. Good local meals are available. The helpful manager can arrange excursions. Good value for money.

Wunderschöne Unterkunft perfekt in die Natur eingebettet. Einfach ein Traum. Man könnte dort den ganzen Tag sitzen und die Natur beobachten. Die Gastgeber sind sehr liebe Leute und erfüllen einem jeden Wunsch. Das Essen ist wunderbar. Einfach Traumhaft!!!

Everything! Probably our favourite stay in Sri Lanka. Fabulous breakfasts and the staff could not have been more helpful. Stunning location ...beautiful sunsets over the lake.

Emplacement très agréable en bordure d’un lac, environnement très calme, abords très bien entretenus. On se rend facilement à pied à Habarana, 20mn environ. Petits déjeuners et repas excellents. Le propriétaire a un tuk tuk et nous a amenés à plusieurs reprises, notamment à Anaradhapura où il nous a conduits d’un site à l’autre pendant toute la journée, moyennant paiement bien sûr mais prix très raisonnable.

Die Familie ist sehr herzlich und hilfsbereit, aber nicht aufdringlich. Die Frau kocht fantastisch, wir haben noch nie so gut gegessen und waren schon letztes Jahr in Srilanka. Der Ort ist sehr schön und richtig romantisch. Die drei Zimmer sind perfekt in die Natur eingebunden. Die Lage am See ist wunderschön und die Sonnenuntergänge traumhaft. Die Zimmer lassen keine Wünsche übrig.

The hosts are the nicest people you could meet. They cannot do enough for you. Our bill for 4 nights came to £33 per night. That included a huge breakfast and dinner including dessert each night, fruit juices, a lot of laundry, a whole day tour of Polonnaruwa, trips to Dambulla and Pidurangala Rock (at 4.45am and our host waited for us to come back down). All of the food we had was gorgeous.

The room we had was spotless, only built 3 years ago, the shower was good and we had a 6ft very comfortable bed. We also had a lovely deck to sit on with very comfy chairs. The aircon was modern and quiet but we found that we didn’t need to use it. It was cool at night.

The setting on the lake is simply stunning. The 3 storey wooden building over the water is perfect for watching a huge variety of birds. My husband has recorded over 30 different birds. We had dinner and breakfast sitting on the deck over the water.

Our lovely host drove us to our next homestay in Anuradhapura for the PickMe price and bought us some guava on the way.

We left Lake Winds with lovely memories and feeling sad that we couldn’t stay longer.

It is paradise. Don’t hesitate to book.

Nos han encantado vistas del alojamiento, la hospitalidad de los dueños y el riquísimo desayuno de la mujer del dueño. El dueño nos ayudo a reservar el safari en Hurulu a muy buen precio y para nosotros solos. También, la noche que llegamos nos prepararon la cena sin problema. El alojamiento transmite una paz preciosa.

The beautiful location and hosts

Nous avons passé un super séjour. Chambre très confortable et propre, grand lit, moustiquaire, climatisation. Vue magnifique sur le lac à proximité. Petit déjeuner dans la cabane et petit vent frais qui fait du bien. Hôtes gentils, attentionnés et à l'écoute de vos moindres besoins. 10mn à pied du centre et des restaurants, location de scooter à proximité. Conseils sur les visites aux alentours. Bref un super séjour, on recommande les yeux fermés.

Great service and very helpful hosts. They (a couple) offered and organized for us: Safari, Pollonnaruwa trip and transport to Ella. All at affordable prices. The man is a guide and tuktuk driver, the lady cooks very well :) The location is somewhat far from the main landmarks, but the hosts drive us with tuktuk - no problem. The view from the garden is relaxing and beautiful (the lake and buffalos).
