This home feels comfortable like going back to your parents. The kitchen is so well stocked with appliances and kitchen needs.
Good location.
It smelled like dog pee in the living room and the whole place could have been cleaner.
The location was perfect. Everything you could want is walking distance! The house itself is pretty and Frank is really nice.
When I cam back after checking into my room I found the owner and some random lady in the room I was staying. I had already set some of my things down in the room and I had locked the room so I was shocked to see people in the room I booked. Frank was apologetic about it, so not too big of a problem just a little weird! The only real downside to this stay was that the sheets had not been washed. They smelled foul and I tried finding clean sheets around the room and couldn't find any. I had to sleep on top of my yoga mat on the bed and use my throw blanket that I had in the car. Had it not been super late when I went to bed, I would have left. There was hair under the pillow and the sheets smelled bad.. not fun.
Fantastic location, great and friendly host, gorgeous facilities, and overall amazing stay!
Nothing :)
Location, privacy, atmosphere of a private house
Not being informed about other people in the house in advance (and vice versa)
Great location
Clean the fridge , the bathroom ,under the bed .
Great value but still obviously a work in progress. Loved the "hostel for grownups" vibe. Got to meet a German mother/daughter, and a London couple. Great huge kitchen space. Very convenient to town.
The backyard is clearly still a work in progress. No fence into the next property, which appears to be some kind of junkyard. Heard footsteps coming and going past my bedroom window throughout the night.
Nice amenities, good location, easy to find.
The housemates were all generally quiet and respectful of house rules, but sound carries through the thin walls. All conversations in the house had died down by 10p, but I was woken by a housemate coming in late and noisily being ill in the bathroom then woken again at 5a by housemates using the kitchen.
Casa de Frank is quaint and has a lot of things my kids loved. It’s located walking distance to restaurants, cafes and gas stations. I found the bed to be comfortable—not sure why some of the other reviews said otherwise. The kitchen was well stocked. Wi-Fi was fast. Jacuzzi was kept hot and ready for us ahead of time. The house keeper and owner were really nice. I feel like the people in this town are really down to earth, which is something I appreciate.
The floor around our rooms were sticky. The couch was covered in dog hair. Underneath the toilet seat was a little dirty. Hot tub was great but had some sand in it. The back yard was full of those spiky dry plants sticking out of the ground—which is something they are working to address.
Location mainly.
Walking in and instantly hearing and feeling the squeaky sound from the semi sticky floor. The bedframe is older and the slightest movement made loud creaking sounds.
The location is unbeatable.
It feels like a little home. And I think this is what it is. A hostel? Definitely not a hotel.
The kitchen is well furnished in equipments and tools.
The bedroom I stayed at a tv, a large bed, a desk and a large closet. The bed was super noisy but very very comfy.
The garden outside is funky and cool. I didn’t try the jacuzzi. But I opened it and it looked clean.
I liked the price, pretty cheap compared to other accommodations around the city center
I guess I didn’t read properly before booking the place so that’s on me but I was surprised to be staying at a hostel not a hotel.
There is nobody to welcome you in, they just send you the code and where to locate the key to your room right before your stay.
The bed was extremely noisy. Every time I moved it was loud.
I only saw (and used) one bathroom (that is also the restroom) to share with the entire house (4 or 5 rooms).
All the doors are polished glass: the bedrooms have curtains behind but not the bathroom. You can’t see the people through it but you can definitely see their shadowy figures.
Location is great, it was clean, room is private.
As I understood, the host (and his partner?) live in the same house, so they cooked their meal late in the evening, the smell was not so pleasant, and also they talked loudly (and we wanted to sleep). The room and bathroom (master bedroom) need some improvements, it is pretty old.
I really like the hot tup. The bedroom was also super comfortable.
There are some bugs around the house and a little inside.
Convenient location, walking distance to restaurants and shops, very close to Joshua Tree National Park
Read a bunch of reviews that the place was dirty, was NOT the case at all. The house was very clean and well kept. Roy the on-site manager was very helpful and friendly. The location was incredible, right in the center of Joshua Tree and basically on the main road to the national park. My favorite part was using the hot tub on my last night while having a local beer and gazing at the desert sky.
The only "dislike" I have is that the mattress was a bit stiff. But wouldn't keep me from coming back, especially if they upgrade that bad boy.
