Spacious Double Room in Anfield

We stayed for 3 nights. On the last night we arrived back at the property at 10pm and couldn't get into the property. We typed in the code 5 times and then the alarm went off. I contacted the host and let him know what was happening, he replied saying the code has changed and gave me a new code. This was a scary experience as all our belongings were inside, it was cold and we didn't know if we would be able to get inside at all. The host said that "sometimes the lock changes automatically" but never warned us about this.

The walls are paper thin and you can hear people outside walking past, you can hear closing and opening of cupboards in the kitchen. You will struggle to sleep here unless you are a heavy sleeper or have good earplugs with you.

There is also nowhere to unpack clothes, and not even hooks to hang your towels and no hand towel provided.

The free parking is just on the road parking and it's luck of the draw if you will find a space, particularly on game day.

Of the more than 150 bookings I have made through Booking.com, this was undoubtedly the worst check-in experience I have ever encountered.

David, the host, was nowhere to be seen. The room initially assigned to me was dirty and had clearly not been prepared for my arrival; I have photographic evidence to support this. I had to make no fewer than ten phone calls before he finally answered. Furthermore, David appeared unable to communicate in English, repeatedly saying nothing but “hello” countless times.

Eventually, I was sent to an alternative property elsewhere in Liverpool, which was considerably worse than the original accommodation. There was no parking available, and the area suggested to me for parking is, according to its reputation, notorious for frequent theft and vandalism.

David was rude, unprofessional, and, based on my experience, not someone I would consider trustworthy. After more than 150 bookings, I can say without hesitation that this was by far the most disappointing and poorly managed check-in experience I have ever had.

There was not a single chair in the entire house, which meant I had to eat, write, and work while standing.

The only thing that was a tiny bit awkward was trying to move about in the small bathroom and keeping the floor dry as we showered. However, we were provided with a decent shower matt and there is actually another, larger shower upstairs which was helpful

The mattresses in the rooms had stains, as well as the pillow that had been stuffed with other materials. We also noticed the chair in the bedroom had been covered with material of some sort which was hiding stains. And also the sink was out of use, which means there was one sink available for all individuals to use, whilst all rooms were full. We also noticed our options for breakfast, we were unaware that this was being provided to make ourselves, with the tag being ‘bed and breakfast’ we instinctively thought this was going to be provided and cooked for us. The level of cleanliness throughout was not to a standard we would have expected either, general dust, cobwebs and stains on paintwork/doors. We also thought that the ‘staff only door’ in the kitchen would not meet safety standards as it was just placed up against another door. The flooring is uneven throughout upstairs which can be considered unsafe. The original code given was incorrect, when speaking to another individual staying they informed us that they had the same issue in that the code changes regularly, which is understandable to safety concerns but those staying should be informed of the changes. One of the main reasons we booked was because you advertised it had ‘free parking’ we would have assumed this consisted of parking that was near the property/provided permits and or was free. We parked were it was suggested and ended up with a ticket. Over all, from the images and description given on booking.com it is something we don’t feel is reflected honestly.
