Smooth booking and check-in process: Communication before arrival was prompt and informative. The team was responsive and provided detailed check-in instructions.
Location: Not to far from Oensingen train station and a supermarket (approx. 10-minute walk), which made day-to-day errands and occasional commutes easier.
Basic amenities: The room was modest but functional. The Wi-Fi worked well, and initial setup went smoothly.
Respectful support: When I expressed discomfort regarding certain issues (like heating or refund upon cancellation), I received courteous responses.
Privacy concerns:
The most significant issue was the property’s policy allowing staff to enter rooms at any time to “check for order and cleanliness,” as stated in their Terms and Conditions (AGBs). Despite my requests for clarification and assurances that room access would only happen with prior notice or in emergencies, management insisted on their right to enter unannounced. This practice contradicts Swiss privacy laws, which protect tenants and guests against unauthorized entry and require reasonable notice except in emergencies. This disregard for legal privacy protections caused significant discomfort and ultimately led me to cancel my longer-term booking.
Noise and environment:
My room (#5) was right in front of the shared bathroom and near the kitchen. It was often noisy due to other guests, particularly from a guest in Room 4. Although the management sent a message to residents about quiet times, the disturbances continued, and the only suggestion I received was to address the person directly. This isn’t ideal for someone seeking a peaceful environment, especially during evening hours.
Cleanliness of shared areas:
The bathroom and kitchen counters were not consistently cleaned. On several occasions, they were visibly dirty and unpleasant to use, suggesting that common areas aren’t maintained as regularly as they should be.
Heating & facility communication:
When it got colder, I discovered the heating wasn’t yet activated. I had to contact the staff to inquire about it, and while it was eventually resolved, clearer guidance at check-in would have helped.
Website clarity & transparency:
While basic house rules are outlined, there was no clear section explaining room access rights in plain language. I had to request the direct AGB link to understand the extent of staff access policies.
