Sleepy Joes

Property was very dark and poorly ventilated. Photos are of the top floor apartment and so they are misleading. Blinds would not stay up so getting light in was difficult. Air con had not been used in some time and so dust went everywhere. Fan in bedroom was very noisy.
No kettle or toaster despite tea being advertised as having tea/coffee facilities. One bath towel provided and it was well used with bleach stains on it and the hand towel.
Room was dusty along the windows.
I specifically booked a larger place so that if a friend decided to come up from Brighton to visit for a night, there was space.
Appreciate that the property manager would want to know, but charging a fee to wash laundry for one extra person using the sofa bed (advertised in the listing as a two bed place) is steep, particularly considering the towels were old and well used, and the place has a washing machine so there would have been minimal extra cost/labour.

Faltaba un poco más de luz

The only downfall for us was that we found the property to be quite dark - at least 3 light switches didn't work properly. Also couldn't turn on the extractor fan in the bathroom when showering.

The check-in process was complicated. We didn't have the booking.com app downloaded so we weren't notified that the host was sending us messages. Booking.com only forwarded some of the messages to our email, and not all of them. Make sure to check the messages directly on booking.com OR download the app beforehand for full instructions.

The apartment was fine, but had a few areas that were clearly previously broken or had not been fully repaired. The door handle to the bathroom fell off and was very loose. There was a hole in the wall that had been patched but not painted over.

Lastly, there is a hole in the door right underneath the lock that you can look directly into the apartment from the lobb,y which made us feel unsafe. You could have put a wire hanger into the hole and jimmied the handle if you really wanted to. Obviously, you would need the lobby code, but we did not like that there was a literal hole in the door.

When we arrived in the evening by taxi, the first impression was already very bad. Right in front of the entrance to the building, there were many broken glass bottles on the ground. It seems that there is a bar nearby, and people gather around the entrance of the building at night, which gives a very unpleasant feeling.

The hallway leading to the apartment was dark, poorly lit, and very dirty. On the floor there was a lot of hair and dust, which immediately created the impression of poor maintenance. Unfortunately, the apartment itself was not much better. It was very dark and poorly lit, and we even found a hole in the main door where the lock should be – meaning someone could literally look into the apartment.

Cleanliness was a serious issue. The floor was dirty, with hair and bread crumbs under the table. We even saw the cleaning lady of the building, who didn’t use a vacuum cleaner, but only a cloth to push the dirt around. The bedding was not white, but gray and green, which shows it is not washed at high temperatures. The same goes for the towels in the bathroom, which did not feel hygienic at all.

The worst part, however, was the air conditioning unit. It was broken and made a terrifyingly loud noise every few minutes – like someone hammering concrete above your head. On the first night, the noise came 3–4 times per night, but on the second and third nights it happened every few minutes, making it absolutely impossible to sleep. This was especially difficult for us since we were traveling with two children (ages 4 and 6) who were exhausted after walking more than 25 km per day to see the main sights of London. We were all extremely tired, but the terrible noise made resting impossible.
On top of that, the air conditioning unit was very dirty, clearly never serviced, full of mold, and potentially dangerous for health.

Overall, this was a very unpleasant experience and made our stay at Sleepy Joes apartments truly miserable.

La climatisation hyper bruyante, un claquement répétitif que l'on entendait même dans les autres pièces de l'appartement ! Pour dormir c'est pas idéal.
L'isolation, mais ça c'est commun a Londres en général, il ne faut pas être surpris d'entendre les voisins comme s'ils étaient dans la pièce (ça devient gênant quand ca ne fait que roter a côté m...) 😅

We had a few disappointing issues during our stay. There were ants coming from the bathroom sliding door and also near the bin, which we couldn’t seem to get rid of. The air conditioning unit made a loud noise every 15 minutes throughout the night, and it also leaked onto my pillow — leaving me with a soaking wet pillow to sleep on the night of my wedding.

Considering we paid £510, we sadly don’t feel the stay was worth the cost, and we wouldn’t choose to stay again

Las maquinas de aire acondicionado hacían mucho ruido, incluso después de apagarlas. Molestaban parada dormir. Faltaba algo de limpieza, al llegar vimos telarañas en algunos rincones.

We had a problem with the door not accepting the access codes, despite trying the correct code several times. A small milk, some tea bags, salt and pepper, oil or butter would make the kitchen better for making your own food in.

A couple of maintenance issues, the sink in the bathroom was poorly draining and the doors hinges had fell off. Oddly it had a complete set of plates and cups etc, but no cutlery anywhere to be found

The style of the apartment meant that it was very dark once you were away from the windows and some of the light switches were difficult to work as they were broken which added to this issue for us. I appreciate this is a recognised modern style, but our aging eyes struggled a bit. That said, the lighting in the bathroom was good.

The room was stylishly decorated, but unfortunately not very practical for our needs. It was very dark, with limited lighting that made it difficult to get ready for an evening out. The only mirrors, one in the bathroom and one in the bedroom, were tinted, which made applying makeup or doing hair even harder.

The bed consisted of two singles pushed together, and the bedding felt worn with bobbling and holes in the bottom sheets. I requested fresh sheets, but this wasn’t addressed during our stay.

We also noticed there was no cutlery provided, so we had to improvise when making tea. While we tried to make the best of it, the lack of functionality in the room was apparent from the start and left us disappointed overall.
