The staff were helpful and the room was clean and quiet. However, the name suggested a hotel or B&B and so I was surprised to learn it was a room above a restaurant. Hence, there were no hotel appointments such as tea making facilities and a glass for a glass of water. It was more the gap between expectation and the reality that was unsettling.
As above, facilities to make it more comfortable.
The room was well maintained, nice and toasty since I arrived soaked and shivering.
The price was good for Cambridge as well.
A bit of a challenge finding the entry and should be communicated more clearly.
Location was pretty good, lots of eateries around and a 20 min walk to the train station
I didnt feel the room was as clean as it should of been, I am not convinced the sheets were fresh as they were creased, not smoothed out and there was a little bit of tissue still in the bed when I pulled the quilt back.
Near where I was working
Noisy at night. Wasn't the best night's sleep
Good location, friendly helpful staff, comfortable bed, good facilities. I enjoyed my stay and would happily go back.
Shower needs updating. Wash hand basin faulty.
Position was very convenient.
There were no cups, or tea making facilities. Only one bath towel provided.
Television did not work. Room was very warm, unable to open windows.
Cheap option not far from the city centre and near good restaurants.
No response from the manager when I contacted him regarding lost property.
It was near a couple of decent coffee shops
No lock on door to building. Cleaning materials stored in corridor, ugly room with stained fridge, no welcome on arrival, room not ready at 2pm, access via dark, smelly alley full of bins.
Nice room clean
Bit hard to find
Good location and easy walk to the center of Cambridge.
Access might put off some people as it's down an alleyway but it was well lit when I returned around 2300.
The property was handy for our plans. The bed was very comfortable with nice bedding.
Initially the wrong information and photos about the room were incorrect causing concern on our arrival. The bed was against the wall which I found claustrophobic. The floor was not particularly clean.
TV was ok
Very difficult to find anywhere to park. Location not in a nice area and the entrance steps were steep and slippery. The bed was awful, tha mattress was covered in stains as the a the duvet cover, but the worst thing was the bedsheet was covered in dead bugs and bed-bug faeces. I have taken photos. I couldn’t sleep there so eventually left and slept in my car. I sent an email to the property but they did not respond, no one was answering their phone. I expect a full refund at the very least
Location
No staff there to meet us. No information on how to get in or collect keys. No staff present throughout entire stay.
When I eventually got through to the "manager" via phone call he accused me of changing my email address and told me it was all my fault I'd received no check in information. After offering to prove to me that he had sent it he quickly realised that he had not and then blamed all of the other staff for this error. What a boss to work for huh.
After that he then also told me that he was only allowing one person in the room and nobody was allowed into my room except for me, even though the room was booked for 2 people. At this point I had lost my patience with his rude incompetence and became furious, I told him that I had booked for my partner and myself and that if he didn't want her in there he could either give me all my money back immediately or call the police to remove us and explain why he was mis-selling his own rooms. He quickly backed down.
The apartment was not very clean, the bed was extremely hard and there is only one razor thing pillow per person.
The property is listed as a hotel on Booking.com - this is a lie. The rooms are also listed as sound proofed, this is also a lie and you can hear every word spoken on the busy street below.
I'd demand our money back if the idea of talking to that manager again didn't fill me with red hot rage.
Convenient, clean room, and a warm welcome.
There was very little communication in answer to my messages and the arrangements for arrival and check in were advised very late.
Very well located on the Mill Road with plenty of good places to eat and shops on your doorstep. Close also to the train station and to Central Cambridge.
For the price it is right but it is entered down a back alley and through the exit of a restaurant Kitchen. The top floor appartment can get very warm and it is a little tired with the decor and facilities but for the price I was not expecting much more.
Nothing
When I arrived at the property I was turned away because they didn't actually have any rooms available, despite having already taken my money. This left me as a solo female traveller looking for somewhere else to stay at 10pm at night. Hoping to get a refund soon
The location is good, walking distance from the town centre. Access is from the back alley and over a fire escape, it's above a restaurant. We had to go into the restaurant to ask how to get to the rooms and briefly saw a chap who might have been the owner. He showed us how to get in and we didn't see anyone again for the rest of our stay. There are rubbish bins and discarded items all over the roof and alley way. The main door to the back of building is left open all night. The room was grubby and the bathroom and shower (which we didn't use) very dirty. See the photos. The bed was clean, with only with one very small pillow. The price was comparable to other rooms we've rented locally in the past, we won't be going back to this one.
