Important information:

Please note that the closest main road junction to reach the Hosteria is from the Panamericana at Otavalo. Guests must follow the signpost saying Lagunas de Mojanda at the traffic light on the main road, and fork left immediately after taking the left turn uphill towards the lakes. Continue uphill for about 1.9 mi and find us on the right hand side just after the Escuela Gonzales Suarez school. It takes about 10 minutes to reach Rose Cottage by car from the Panamericana at Otavalo highway.

Please note guests must advise the property at least 24 hours in advance if they want to use of the hot tub/jacuzzi. There is a charge of $5 per person, minimum $15. Guests who stay for at least 2 nights in rooms costing more than $50 per night can use the jacuzzi once free of charge, subject always to booking it direct with the property at least 24 hours in advance. Dogs are welcome, but will be charged $5 per night.

Pros:

Die Familie, welche die Unterkunft zur Zeit betreibt, ist unglaublich nett, professionell und zuvorkommend. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Lage auf einem Bergrücken oberhalb von Otavalo ist großartig, mit Panorama-Blicken rundum und einem Wanderweg zum Wasserfall direkt hinter den Häusern. Ein sehr schönes Gelände mit einem liebevoll gepflegten Rosengarten.

Pros:

A beautiful and peaceful location outside of Otovalo, ideally located for the Trans Ecuador Mountain Bike Route. We arrived late, but with a very warm welcome from Christian and his wife, Brigitte, who lit a roaring fire for us and cooked up excellent food. Strongly recommended.

Peaceful and inspiring place to stay
Pros:

I had a wonderful stay at Hosteria Rose Cottage. Mark and Rosa were excellent hosts, they were so friendly, welcoming and accommodating, they really went out of their way to make me feel at home. The hostel is nestled in the mountains less than a 10 minute drive out of Otavalo, the location is tranquil and the view is so inspiring. Evening meals are very reasonably priced at $8 for a wholesome home cooked meal plus a pudding, veggie options are available. I originally booked 2 nights but liked it so much that I booked an extra 2!

Good value, great location, friendly staff.
Pros:

The hosts were friendly and flexible - I asked for a late check-out and they were willing to accommodate that without issue. The room was comfortable, with good bedding and pillows. The bathroom was clean, and the hot water worked well. I did not eat any meals there, though they offered dinner and breakfast.

Cons:

Biggest complaint were dusty curtains. Closing them over the windows definitely made me sneeze once. Aside from that, some of the trim and paint, as well as the accessory furniture is old / heavily worn. However, it was all clean and functional, and considering the price, I don't consider this a very significant complaint.

Enjoyed our last minute stay with tremendous views.
Pros:

The views from the cottage are amazing. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The cottage had hit running water and a fireplace. They also had wine available for sale. Breakfast was simple and available at 8 am.

Cons:

The cottage only had one private bedroom and no heat. There were plenty of heavy blankets available.

Pros:

If you want to spent some time outside the city with an amazing view - this is the place to go.
The stuff is really nice and they help you a lot if you need a taxi, some sort of information etc. I spent 3 nights there and it was a really good time!

The views are stunning, the service supper and the silence is most welcome. All in all, if you can live without tv, with slow internet and love the outdoors make sure to stay there a while.
