A beautiful. spacious, comfortable room with small kitchenette. Lots of natural light and tremendous views from this this lovingly renovated Palafito home. Bed was super comfy. Ample food provided for breakfast- either ready to eat (fruit, bread, yogurt, meat and cheese) or eggs to cook plus coffee, tea, juice and milk. Host was accommodating. Cecelia was charming and helpful. Great location right next door to a tasty restaurant. Quiet. No street noise.

Palafitos are houses on stilts along the shore that stand over water at high tide and are a main attraction in Castro. A few of these old palafitos that previously mostly housed fishermen have been renovated/rebuilt and transformed into fancy accommodations for visitors. This is one of them. It is beautiful and very stylish. Our unit was very spacious and comfortable with modern amenities. The 180 degree over the bay through huge windows was priceless. Ingredients for a very good breakfast are provided. The kitchen area is adequately equipped to prepare the breakfast and could also be used to prepare other meals.
After booking, I had a few questions about the payment process, which the host requested to be processed in CLP through a Chilean website I was not familiar with. During our 3.5 week trip through Chile, this was the only time payments were processed this way. My questions were mostly about VAT, which foreigners do not have to pay for accommodations in Chile. My questions were not answered and responses were short and not to the point. Assuming a language barrier, I asked my wife to communicate in Spanish, but the responses did not improve. On the other hand, the pre-arrival communication was very good and the host even arranged access when we arrived very late due to a several hour flight delay.

Dogs barking outside - nothing to be done but a pain
It's a modern renovated space that is as shown in the photos. It you are the only one there it is quiet and peaceful. The pellet stove heats the place up nicely. The view from the wall to wall windows is wonderful. Cecila, who delivers breakfast everyday, is very kind and helpful. There is a restaurant next door and other places to eat along the waterfront.
Pre-trip communication was not as good as it should be. It took many tries to get messages and inquiries answered, when responses did come they didn't really provide answers or were very vague. Payment was an issue. In the fine print it is stated they only accept cash even though a link for payment was sent. Chilean law does not require VAT to be charged to foreign tourists, other places did not charge it, but Valentina insisted it be paid.
I really liked everything! Location and view is fantastic. The apartment I rented was perfectly kept, clean and very well organized. It has a huge and beautiful terrace. The bed is super comfortable with nice and clean sheets. Every day the room was cleaned and every 2 nights the linens and towels were changed.
It had a nice kitchen equipped efficiently with all ones might need for light cooking. The breakfast items were available every day and replaced when finished.
The room is warmed up with an easy to use pellet stove.
There was nothing I did not like.
Amazing stilt house over the water in Castro. The bottom room has incredible views and a large balcony. Very central to Castro. Full kitchen available. The room is amazing, they provide food for you to cook your own breakfast-eggs, bread, jam, yoghurt, coffee. The owners and host are lovely. This is a very beautiful place to stay.
Unfortunately there are not s lot of payment options available. Be aware the owners will require payment via an International transfer, or you will be required to oay cash and therefore you will pay the VAT 19%. This put a bit of a downer on my trip to the Palafito. But if you go in aware of this hopefully you wont suffer the same fate.
Superb location, beautifully renovated building, stunning views, incredibly helpful and accommodating staff, delicious breakfast.
Pricey, and they don't accept credit cards which presents a significant hardship for international travelers. It was a bit noisy, with foot traffic overhead and an open-air restaurant immediately adjacent.
