This inn was the worst. The front desk greeter was very rude to our group as we checked in. It’s advertised as having ac. It did not. There are no screens on the windows so when we opened them for air, we were eaten up by mosquitos and flies. When we inquired about fans, we were told they were on order. Keys jammed in doors and were very difficult to open. Our shower head was broken and had to be hand-held. Mold was along the walls in the bathroom and several in our group reported broken shower doors that allowed bathrooms to flood when the shower ran. Dinner was fine. The next morning, we woke up to a minimal breakfast and the sole staff member on site very sick. An ambulance arrived to take her to hospital but apparently there was no other staff member on site to check guests out. We left our keys on the front desk and gratefully left. There are plenty of albergues and inns in town. Pick one of those. We are walking the Camino and have stayed in charming, basic inns that provided clean spaces and excellent customer service. This was not one of them.
Love the setting in the country. Far from palas de Rei. You need to take a taxi to get there but it’s all worth it. Quiet. Nice farm house like hotel. The staff absolutely warm and friendly.
Lugar mágico, bonito, acogedor, muy limpio y muy amables las trabajadoras
Personale gentilissimo.Struttura lontana da centro abitato e raggiungibile solo in Taxi o a piedi.
Limpieza, trato, comodidad bien.
Excellent Customer Service.
The dineer and breakfast was great and so satisfying.
Very clean
I stayed at Casa Bolboreta when walking the Camino. It is located a bit off the Camino but the friendly owner picked me up from Casanova at no extra cost. Casa Bolboreta is a warm and welcoming place. The food was great and catered for a variety of dietary requirements. There is a lovely quiet walk to a castle nearby that is worth doing.
Peace, relaxation, nature, hospitality and cordiality are the words that first come to mind when thinking about Casa Bolboreta. An unforgettable stay and rest day on the Camino. A little off the beaten path, it is an oasis that brings deceleration for body, mind and soul. In addition to the huge hospitality, the absolute highlight is the dinner. Regional ingredients, cooked with heart and love, a modern variant of the rustic kitchen let every taste bud cheer. Here the guest is taken care of and one feels AT HOME. The great service is also the pick up and drop off on the Camino. Our dog could move freely no matter in which room and garden. For all of us it was pure nature and relaxation with friends. RECOMMENDED
I'm posting a very late review of the wonderful Albergue Casa Sabela from my time walking the Camino Frances in Oct/Nov 2019 - a lifetime ago! I had begun to experience some pain in my leg (shin splints) which required me to take a break earlier than expected that day. The Albergue is only a very short distance off the trail - I walked it in 10 mins and met Mar in the car coming to pick me up. Honestly if you are fit and able I wouldn't think twice about the minor detour to the Albergue. The place, like the people, is fantastic - warm, welcoming and for me at that moment in time a place where I could recuperate in comfort. The accommodation is fantastic and before dinner the various guests assembled in the living room in front of a roaring fire, meeting, chatting and exchanging tales. Even though it was the end of the season there were still quite a few people there and we had dinner together - an amazing paella with all the trappings. Most important however was the friendly and authentic helpfulness provided by Mar and her husband. She went out of her way to help me with a particular request I had. This place is wonderful I would recommend it any time o f the year. Hopefully the Camino will open up soon and I highly recommend this Albergue as a warm and welcoming place to rest your head and nourish the soul. x
Our party of four made reservations at Albergue Casa Sabela while walking El Camino de Santiago in September 2019. Mar and Carlos were our 'super hosts' during our stay at Palas de Rei. They treated us to tapas and wine while waiting for dinner which turned out to be a 4-course delicious dinner shared with other pilgrims from England and Barcelona, Spain. Casa Sabela is very clean, comfortable, and run by a very friendly couple: Master Chef Mar and her husband Carlos.
Hi out of all the places we stayed we enjoyed our stay here, the warmth of the reception and the loving atmosphere were wonderfull, we decided to have a bit of luxury and have our own room for a change. Good size room with everything you need.
It was late in the season fireplace was a great place to snuggle up to.
The food for the evening meal with other pilgrims, lasagna with great company.
Not forgetting lovable Bella
Thank you
Walking El Camino de Santiago is an experience of a lifetime. I will never forget Carlos and Mar, they are amazing hospitaleros. Casa Sabela is well kept, clean, and the food was delicious. They fed us well and allowed our group of 13 to have control of the music. We played cards, danced, sang karaoke, we do not know how to sing, but we did, and we did not have a curfew. You may make arrangements for them to pick you up and drop you off in Casanova because it is not along the camino, it is an extra 1.2 km or so out. Our group loved our stay here. They do have wifi and a washer.
We were hosted by a wonderful couple, Mar and Carlos, who were so friendly and helpful. As Casa Sabela was a little isolated, Mar picked us up from the nearest village, Casanova, and drove us to Casa Sabela, a 5 minute drive away. We were made very welcome, and they provided us with a delicious multi course dinner and wine that evening, plus a vert generous breakfast the next morning. Our room was very comfortable with lovely views. Mar also arranged accommodation for us for our stay in Madrid a few days later.
If ever we are on the Camino Frances again, we will certainly return to Casa Sabela to have another dose of warm hospitality, laughter and fabulous meals
We stumbled on this albergue online and I am so happy we did! Casa Sabela is a beautiful 14th century building now being run as an albergue. It is about 1.5km off the Camino, but not to worry! Mar, one of the owners, provides great instructions for walking into Casanova (about 5-6km beyond Palas de Rei) on the Camino, then stopping to call her. She quickly came and picked us up and drove us to Casa Sabela. So beautiful and peaceful! There were only four of us there the night we stayed. Mar and her husband could not have been any more gracious and hospitable! That evening she prepared and served an eight-course meal for the four of us! It was amazing. The next morning she drove up back up to the Camino and dropped us off. I would highly recommend checking this out. We had a private twin room with private bath at a very low rate. And I could lay in bed and watch a beautiful sunset right outside my window. It was a much needed quiet, restful night!
