New owners and not the same as the previous time I have stayed.
Pros:

The property is central, rooms are comfortable.

Cons:

We were sent to the calypso to get our keys and book in and there was a lady on reception who was drunk. First of all she said there was no booking for us, then she said there was one room not two and told us a completely different price to what was in our booking. Eventually I went around to her side of the desk and looked in the computer and found our booking as she was far to drunk to know what she was going. She was too intoxicated to be booking people in and be responsible for the reception and guests in the hotel. I think that it was a serious risk to the safety and welfare of the guests. I reported it and to be told she would be dealt with. I think someone being drunk on duty is gross misconduct as they are unfit for their duty. But to my suprise she was still working there the whole weekend. So clearly management did not take it as seriously as what I thought it was. I did have an apology but it’s not acceptable, if this is the sort of behaviour from the staff at calypso then there should be staff booking us in to the hotel Aspire we paid and booked into not a hotel two doors down.
The manager of the Aspire was lovely but I was very disappointed that they did not take this incident seriously which made me very disappointed.

Cons:

Went in the 2 week heatwave an the room was really stuffy an baking hot, was lot cooler in corridor area
Tiny small tv disapointing for £45 night
Outdated fans,no air con, tiny window
Check in was next door at Calypso,no reception staff at Aspire

Pros:

Didn't have any breakfast,

Cons:

People upstairs moving furniture and walking toing and forwarding along the floorboards at 4:18am and didn't get much sleep and very stuffy and humid, no air conditioner and Indian restaurant underneath my room wafting the smell which made sick, definitely won't be staying there again, not worth the money and smack heads on drugs on the same row as the hotel is was staying at.

Love the fabulous and warm aspect of Blackpool, but the hotel was disappointing.
Pros:

The owners were friendly and welcoming The beds were comfortable and the shower was good. Also the location is very central.

Cons:

Our room was stifling. It needed air com because it was really hot. One of the plug sockets gor very hot. We found a pair of socks under the bed which weren't ours. One of the bedside lights didn't work. The breakfast, which we paid £8 extra per person was poor, with cheap bread, and tinned tomatoes offered up as part of an English. As a security issue, having a generic key to fit all rooms is a security issue.
Re the Beach.
The beach itself is lovely, but the sea looked brown. There is apparently quite a lot of sewage dumping. I would have thought it's an absolute no for swimmers.
